How do you get your deer out. What kind of terrain?

Hills/mountains

I'll drag a deer downhill all day.

I'll drag about 400-800 yards uphill/flat depending on steepness.

Beyond that I'll pack out.

Never messed with a sled but I can see how they make sense for swamps.

We use a cart at camp. They work pretty well as long as you don't have too much brush or blowdowns to deal with. Hauling one around in my truck every hunt just in case I might get lucky is a level of preparedness I don't think I could ever achieve.
Speaking of un-achievable levels of preparedness wanna talk about the 130 pound doe I shot in the lowest part of the property with nothing but a gun on me? No rope no help no nothing dragged her 3.2 miles uphill alone with my belt wife was not happy this New Year’s Eve

I shot one behind the house a few years ago Christmas Eve. Partial bad shot. Hit em high. Two other guys jumped him twice. Found him 5.1 miles thru the woods in a bed. Finished him off. It was 450. Xmas eve dinner was ready at 5....dragged alone with a dead phone and a pull rope... I got home around 930. My whole family was non to pleased :)

Sounds a lot like my New Year’s Eve also took me 5 hours didn’t even have a light with me so when the phone died i was in the dark with no clue where I was heading but new I had to go uphill!

I to was in the dark after phone died. Thank god for spidey senses. I was going for a quick walk at noon. First shot was 110. Long day lol. Thank god for the chain fall on shed to hang it for the night. Skinning a half frozen deer wasn’t fun Christmas morning at 430 tho

I spend a lot of time hunting in flooded timber and cedar swamp. I use a sled. I just can't see any kind of cart working in the mud, with all the fallen trees and with all the narrow gaps. On hard ground, I am sure a cart would be great.

Bought this of craigslist for 25 dollars couple years ago. Works amazing. 1 guy can do it but with 2 guys can lift over fallen trees and is unstoppable.

I’m typically making at least a half mile walk into rolling hills that are sometimes considered mountains. Very steep stuff but not always very tall. I quarter and carry. I work out of a mystery ranch pop up 18 and use game bags from black Ovis. They seem to work very well for me.

Packed out my buddy's this year with crawler cart and my electric bike. The final grade is a steep uphill, motor could only pull the deer so I walked beside it to run the throttle and hold the front wheel down.
With a few improvements to a hitch mechanism this will work great on the next one.IMG_1119.jpg

I'm in the hills and the swamps. I already own a jet sled. I'm trying to decided if I should also get a cart or just start packing them out. The Hawk crawler sleds look pretty nice but I'm still. Anybody have any experience with those?
I like the idea of packing it out but being by myself (probably) it'd be multiple trips and in Wisconsin we have to bring everything out but the guts.
in southern MN, im in the same boat... ive thought about doing the Clay Newcomb deer dufflebag method, but havent at this point... so far ive just been draggin em outta swamp edges. If i get one a mile back in the driftless, i'll probably try it out
