How do you stay still?

If you want to switch to webbing (my personal choice), you can just tie knots or you can get 2 tri slides which is also really easy. And the webbing can be clove hitched or girth hitched with tri slide attaching. The slides will make the length adjustable. Once you determine the length you like the best, chances are that you won't adjust it very much. However, some guys that are doing one stick or rappelling seem to adjust on a regular basis.

is there a video or how to of this? Now I’m curious!

There are lots of Youtube vids on splicing Amsteel. You can find some links on this forum...somewhere.
The rest of what I described (girth hitch, clove hitch, etc) is pretty much self explanatory.
Webbing bridges are even easier...knots or slides are a no brainer.
For a couple dollars, you can buy 4 feet of 1" tubular webbing and you already have the Amsteel. Make 2 bridges and leave them both on...switch back and forth and try them out to see which you prefer.

Here are a few pics of my Amsteel whoopie bridge.

This is the most uncomfortable thing ive ever worn. Ridin up my crotch hahaha. It wont stay on my butt. I got a mantis and its about to go in the classifieds along with this ring of steps. Compared to my climber or hang on this is torture. I just spooked 20 deer wigglin around...haha oh well. How does anyone get comfy in these i just dont understand

You must be in a kestrel one size too small.

Whoops just reread your posts. A saddle that’s too small is like a Chinese torture device.
I like a long bridge and a short tether.
FYI I haven’t sat in a mantis for more than 30 min. But that’s how I use my sit drag.
See you in a tree, Ricky

Here is a pic that shows the webbing and tri slide bridge. Not the best pic, sorry.
Those slides are the 1st ones I found before @DanO started selling the load rated ones. That is why I doubled mine. They held well for me, but I never had any incidents where the bridge arrested a fall.

Thanks. I just went to @DanO website and found them. An order will surely be placed soon.

With the tri glide do you need to tie any knots or sew anything? Knots are fine i guess but sewing aint happening yet. Wife probly wouldnt mine getting one soon. The only purchase she might consider practical

No knots are needed with slides. My webbing has never slipped even a fraction of an inch.

I think you need to make some adjustments with tether height also you may want to change the location of the leg straps. I moved mine from the more "forward" loop to the more "rearward" loop on the side of my upper leg by and just below the tether loops. With that adjustment the "wrap" of the leg strap was more horizontally around the top of my thigh instead of creasing along other more "sensitive" parts. This really increased the comfort to me of this saddle. If it is more back type pain definetly get the "recliner" or utilize of strap or webbing belt of some kind to give you some added support. I tend to be more of a leaner than a sitter and after some of those micro adjustment I have found it quite comfortable.

@PEEJAY If you are serious about getting a sewing machine there is some great threads on here about buying and using them. Most likely you will buy an older sewing machine. Because the new machines mostly have very cheap light weight parts driving them.

Or buy a new commercial machine ( very pricey ) to handle the sewing you would be doing. I just bought a Kenmore 86 stylist off of craigslist for $25.00, It is in like new condition and being made in 1958 it is built to handle the types of sewing you would be doing.

Lower that sucker!!!

Hike in height, and “wear in tree height” are entirely different locations. The height should NOT be belt high for sits!

For any questions more specific than this answer, I am only ALLOWED to respond in the Vendor section.
Or, feel free to DM me or contact me on any of the forums I’m on that value free speech... which is ANY of the other ones I’m on.

You put the right nut here, you put the left nut there, then you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey while the prostaff tries out the next gamechanger, then you shake it all about...that's what it's all about!

Good to see that 3 weeks away from this toxic place haven’t changed the #prostaff jabs.....
If only I got paid for y’all’s negative comments.....

It's just low hanging fruit, I'm sorry for the jokes. I think you're a most likely a good dude and a good hunter. I'd share a camp with you in a minute.

My people, there is great honor in being roasted. I think that gets lost on the innernet. And I think most here that has graduated to prostaff falls under the same.

I can guarantee I'll not ever not rip on the ridiclousness of the concept of prostaffs though.

There’s never a true way to read context on any written platform. Same with text messages. Can’t tell you how many people I’ve known that basically loose friendships over text.

Don't wear the mantis like a rock harness, it's not made to warp around your iliac crest. the top of the back of my mantis sits BELOW the top of my butt crack, at the tip of my tailbone. Then, by tightening the leg straps, I'm pulling it even farther forward. you should have mesh under your nuts, not leg straps. Additionally, I put all my kit in storage bags on the back of my saddle - the weight helps pull the backside down whenever I stand on my ROS. A high tether will also cause the saddle to ride up, I place mine at collarbone and sit VERY deep, legs and body almost at a 70 degree angle.

Hope you give it another chance. I have a Phantom and only a few practice climbs and sits but TJutte is right on. The saddle will feel like it is way too low until you get some weight in it. If not then you have it too high. I have found I need the waist strap well below my belt line. Then it is much more comfortable and doesn't ride up at all. Good luck.

I'm running the Phantom. I would say that it has taken a little bit of trial and error to dial it in. But for me once you get it figured out no problem for long sits and very little figiting in the tree pulling it down. I climb mostly DRT and SRT and the Phantom is way more comfortable with the climbing rope up high than hanging from a teather at head hight. If I am running a teather at eye hight or lower the saddle deffinitly creaps up a bit and needs some fiddiling with.
