how fast will a deer go bad

I need to check, but it used to be in MN you were allowed to track wounded game onto private land from public land without consulting the land owner. You were only allowed to retrieve your animal and then leave

But now in a situation like this, I already told the owner I was leaving, that doesn't apply anymore.

97B.001 TRESPASS.
Subd. 5.Retrieving wounded game.

Except as provided in subdivision 3, a person on foot may, without permission of the owner, occupant, or lessee, enter land that is not posted under subdivision 4, to retrieve a wounded animal that was lawfully shot. The hunter must leave the land immediately after retrieving the wounded game.

Sorry to hear you weren't able to get him. It's definitely part of the game but it hurts. We learn and become better hunters. I remember from last year that feeling like being a caged animal you just want to get out there get him right away. I reached out to the forum and you all gave me the support it took to calm me down and take my time to recover my buck. It was hard to be patient and take my time, to think before acting. What I learned was it's very rare that we can't take the time we need to think it through. Some time the answer is to give it time, super hard to do but so important.Take some deep breaths, allow your self to feel it and then move on. Get out there and smoke one.

Dang sorry to hear that you didn't find him, backing out when in doubt is always the best thing to do, remember to think about exit wound not entrance wound. Wired to hunt podcast has a fantastic episode about shot execution and tracking with Mark Drury, something nobody really covers, it's episode 292. I listen to it before every season as a reminder. Good luck with the next one

After you shoot a deer it is probably best to sit at the base of the tree and check out the latest saddlehunter posts. Post a lengthy description of your hunt. Before you know it, two hours will have passed and you can start trailng your deer. It is tough to wait after seeing so much blood.

Pretty much unless I see the deer drop (or less positively, if I had seen it run off), I normally don't even go check out the impact site until after a good wait. I just don't see the general upside.
