Last year, I did the cobra weave around the outer edge of the platform.
1. It held up very well throughout the season,
2. I swear by god I'll never do that again, what a PITA...and fingers.
For the angle adjustment bolt, I first epoxied a piece of sheetmetal (steel) to the main post where the bolt contacts then used contact cement to glue a piece of leather to the sheetmetal. The bolt face did eventually cut through the leather but it is still extremely quiet with no noise.
