How many deer per year?

Usually 4-5 a year. I do my own processing. We haven't bought ground meat or sausage in years. If there were wild chickens where I hunt, we wouldn't buy any meat. (except for beef steaks... I love a good ribeye).
Move to bama. We have swamp chickens. ;)

I aspire to one day be 100% wild game. We live on the river, and if I would just run trot lines we could probably do it.

Oh, we eat some turkeys. I just don't kill enough to make up for all the chickens we eat.

Beat Bama! Geaux Tigers! ;)

I average two a year. Last year I got four, and gave alot to my nephew who has 7 mouths to feed. I hunt Western NY and NW Pennsylvania. Two is enough, four is better because that means eight backstraps! I get steaks, cubed steaks, a couple roasts, the backstraps whole uncut. The roasts I slow cook with onion soup, or make corned beef and cabbage. The remainder I get cut into chunks and I grind it all up myself with some beef and pork fat and I make smoked PA deer bologna (con Yeager spices), and pepper sticks. Wife uses the burger in everything. Sometimes I cut the deer entirely up myself. Usually I take it to a terrific local cut shop, but it's expensive.

Four is a good number for us. I got 4 in the freezer last year and am just now getting low on that meat. Our part of Tennessee allows 3 antlerless per day and 2 antlered (over 3" of antler) deer. The landowner for the newest and largest farm I hunt has said that if we took 3 does a day off it would not be enough, so I may end up making donations to Hunters for the Hungry (I'm keeping all of the hearts and tenderloins ;) ). He is imposing a hard standard of 140" or better on bucks. I have not seen any that size yet. I am hoping to shoot 1 more doe this weekend and then cool it until mid-December when the rut winds down around here.

Three does PER DAY? PER DAY? Man, I think I need to move...

3 is my average and that is a good place for us. I started going elk hunting this year and plan on that being an annual venture, so hopefully success starts soon with that and I can be pickier about bucks. Hunting is our preferred meat source. I hunt whitetail in PA and NY.

I’m with the other middle Tennessee guys with the 3 does per day season. My goal is 10 per year (2 bucks and 8 does). We use basically every part of the deer. Our dogs eat bones and less desirable organs etc. Have arrowed 3 deer so far so right on schedule.

My goal is 4 per year but wont stop if i hit it....call me greedy....lol.

Florida public

And I just got notification from TWRA (our state wildlife agency) that I got an extra buck tag for the CWD zone because I checked in 2 does and had them tested. I highly doubt I will fill all 3 buck tags. I am doubtful I'll fill 2, much less a third.

Arkansas state limit is 6, my zone is limited to 4. I average 3 off my property. I’m careful to manage my local herd, to the best of my ability. Anything off public is a bonus

1 is enough for my family. If my son shoots one during firearm season, the meat will probably go to hunters for the hungry.

My goal is 3 big game animals each year. In Ohio we can only kill one buck and my county is a three deer overall limit. So I try at least to fill that quota and if I do some traveling usually that’s just gravy.

2 or 3. I used to go through it more than I do now. I shot 2 last year and still have 10 pounds or so in the freezer. We don't buy any red meat but since having kid #2 we should own stock in chic fil a. My wife doesn't love deer meat. We use a lot of ground and the occassional backstrap for family dinners. She doesn't like all the braising meat, which I consider the good stuff. But you don't exactly whip up stew for one as a quick weeknight meal.

Generally 5 or 6. Sometimes double digits. Missouri has unlimited archery doe tags. Give several to share the harvest. Friends take some and we eat 4 or 5.

Usually 9 or 10, most I ever got was 15

And your population supports that type of harvest rate? Man, you guys must be drowning in deer. Do you eat all of them or give some away?

I shoot for double digits every year and can have most of it eaten by next season without much effort.

About 10 a year my count so far this year is seven deer I do donate to hunters for the hungry and the less fortunate, Virginia is unlimited deer a year in some areas but only three bucks are allowed, I use strictly archery equipment and out of the seven deer I've taken so far I donated 5 and kept 2 for personal use
