How many people actually use a bino chest rig?

I am a bino freak. I have to have my bino's with me at all times when hunting. No matter if its turkey, deer or squirrels. I have two chest harnesses. One is a Cabelas standard bino harness. I use this during early season archery. I then use a Badlands bino harness that I absolutely love for turkey hunting which I put my calls in, etc. I also love it for deer hunting for my wind indicator as well as keeping my Chapstick and other odd and ends in there. Like @JCLINE84 said to each there own.

This isn’t related to a bino harness as I don’t use one, but a tip that might help some people out. When you’re carrying your pack in, leave the carabiner you use to hang it in a tree on the handle of your pack, put your Bono’s around your neck and clip the strap to that carabiner. It will take all that pressure of your neck.

I’m also thinking of getting one too and debating if just more bulk or stick with the bino strap. Does the chest rig block you from using your pockets?

They would be handy but I have too much on me already.. I use a heavy boot lace w/ a barrel stop on it, across my chest and the binos hang under my right armpit. With the push of a button I can slide them up tight under my arm or let hang way down.

I’m starting to feel like a convert. So nice for carrying small items too. That being said I haven’t shot a deer with it on yet

Just practice shooting at a target several times. The Helicon Tex one I posted a link to doesn’t get in the way at all. I tested it out standing while shooting at a 3D target and then while in the saddle as well.

I use an Alaska Guide Series, the hybrid model. I hunt from a trophyline ambush pro saddle. For me the AGS doesn't get in the way hanging, shooting or climbing with sticks. The only issue I have found with the harness is when single sticking. As I hang down to grab the stick to move it, my bridge is straight up and pushes the harness into me. Its kind of uncomfortable, my solution to this is when I get to my tree I just pull one arm out of the harness and slide the harness to my back for the climb, only takes a couple seconds.

One loop of 3/4" elastic webbing is all you need. Wear the strap that comes with the binos around your neck and secure the binos to your chest with the webbing. It gets the job done. I've never used the Rick Young style, to me this seems a better solution as the binos are actually strapped tight to your chest whereas the Rick Young harness the binos can still flippity floppy around which would annoy me while walking.

Don't knock it till you try it.... your method wears out my neck when I have attempted. Rick young and chest harness are both pretty rock solid and have served me well, including tracking all over the gila national forest with no flipping floppy

Yeah I have my binos cinched high and tight to my chest with RYO. They don’t move one bit on the walk in.

I one stick and I do think I prefer to put them in my pack for the climb up the tree. I think I’d prefer that with any type of harness though. Especially when using the UP on my one stick.

I'll have to try them. Seems with the way they hook in the objective lens part could swing away from your body.

They stay pretty close if deployed like this picture.

I am an east coast hunter, so I am not in the Midwest or mountains unless I’m on a annual trip. I’m debating getting a bino harness to wear while hanging. I have not found myself carrying binos usually but if there is a slim case that can do it and carry some accessories I’m open to try it.

Thank you for your suggestions or examples of when you have needed them on the east coast in the woods.
Did you end up settling on a setup?

I got a FHF chest rig (not bino harness) and trying to set it up for the season.

If I'm hunting, I wear my binos and rangefinder on a chest harness, except when I'm hunting from a saddle. It just gets in the way there.

Revisiting this since the thread was revived. I am largely still of the same opinion, but have since moved from FHF to a Marsupial bino harness and like it quite a bit better. The Marsupial might work a bit better from a saddle with it opening away from the user.

I've got a Kuiu Pro in the mail. With rangefinder pouch. Doing some hunting out of state this year, wanted the ability to have eyes at all times in new territory. Also think it will improve my local hunts. Many guys have moved Binos into the essential gear category. I don't know yet if I have, but I'm willing to see.

I'm running a diy Rick Young Style for scouting and planning on running my Hill People Gear kit bag with the HPG bino pouch and a FHF rangefinder pouch on the front. Front pocket will hold my grunt tube, rattling bag, and bleat can. Back pocket will have a 9mm in it during archery and my 10mm during gun. I'm hoping to take a doe with the 10mm
