How many people actually use a bino chest rig?

Never got in way of your string?
No sir. People shoot Total Archery Challenge all the time with all sorts of different bino harnesses on with zero issues. I am fully aware they are standing in various positions and not in a saddle. So could it interfere if you were taking a seated weak side shot? Absolutely. But just practice with one on and you will realize you don’t even notice it. Do a Google image search of “total archery challenge” and you will see very good photos of people shooting out to 100 yards wearing them.

As I understand proper form - and I'm happy to be corrected, I don't mean to cosplay as an Internet archery pro - we don't want to angle our arm down for downward shots; we want to keep our upper arms and shoulders in line and bend at the waist for those shots. By angling your arm instead of bending at the waist one might catch their bino harness. Hopefully one would feel this and be reminded to use proper form.

I shot for the first time today with a new Kuiu Pro set up with rangefinder holster. Holds my Vortex Viper 8x42s nice and high. Very light. And it’s quit. Opens out and stays open. I have a spiral lanyard attachment for the rangefinder. I’m impressed.

Standing at TAC would be different from sitting/leaning in saddle with a bridge.
Got some things ordered that I’ll just have to try out in the backyard and see what fits and return the rest or offload them here

I can confirm that the Helicon Tex chest pack does not interfere with “my” shooting from a saddle either sitting or standing.

I'm running a diy Rick Young Style for scouting and planning on running my Hill People Gear kit bag with the HPG bino pouch and a FHF rangefinder pouch on the front. Front pocket will hold my grunt tube, rattling bag, and bleat can. Back pocket will have a 9mm in it during archery and my 10mm during gun. I'm hoping to take a doe with the 10mm

You didn’t ask but this is a medium recon using their 1 qt. Bottle holder for my 8x32 vortex binos. I can fit my binos and rangefinder in their Bino pouch. This is less expensive and allows easier access for me. I keep the stock lens covers on them when it makes sense.

At 56 I still don’t require glasses, but my eyes aren’t what they used to be. This year I opted for a Marsupial gear pouch and Maven 10x42’s. I’ve used it on 3D shoots so far and had no interference issues. Looking forward to see how I like it once season starts.
Maven B1.2s? How you liking them? I sold my B3 8x30s and looking to sell my B2 9x45s to consolidate down to either the 8x42 or 10x42 in the B1.2. Im still hanging on to my B3 6x30s for ultra lightweight and wide FOV though.

I use the marsupial harness and it does not interfere with my saddle shooting. I use mine to for the range finder, gloves, neck gator, and bow rope.

Mine are the C 10x42’s. I love them so far. Far better than I expected.

I am an east coast hunter, so I am not in the Midwest or mountains unless I’m on a annual trip. I’m debating getting a bino harness to wear while hanging. I have not found myself carrying binos usually but if there is a slim case that can do it and carry some accessories I’m open to try it.

Thank you for your suggestions or examples of when you have needed them on the east coast in the woods.
I know it’s been a long time since this got started, but thank you thank you thank you! I got new binos 2 years ago, but never take them. Never liked the chest harness thing(Vortex), while climbing, or whatever. But I love having the binos with me. After going through the few first pages of this thread, I watched a video. After about 30 minutes playing with different options, I made a bino harness out of 750 paracord. No clips, just ran the cord through the binos and out the back. I had everything and it only took a few minutes to make! Wow! Just what I was looking for! Thanks again!

Simplistic is a great option to have. The vortex harness isn't bad, just not good in the saddle IMO. I posted instructions for a diy Rick Young Outdoors style harness on the diy subforum.

Wouldn't leave the house to hunt or scout without it. If I had to pick a pack or my bino harness for most of my hunts I would pick the harness. My harness always has my binos, range finder, wind checker, a knife on the side, and a open pouch to add what ever calls or scents I plan to use that day as well as my phone.

I use a Kuiu bino harness. Always use when scouting. Same setup as bigbuck247. When I’m in the tree, sometimes depending on shooting lanes/vis I’ll hang on gear hanger vs wearing on chest. I practice shooting with it on because it’s a lot easier to shoot without it if you’re used to wearing it vs the other way around. Also as my eagle eyes have turned to doves, handy when practicing vs walking 10 to 20 yards closer to see where the arrows landed on the target! All in all, worth having.

Yes, Kuiu has a good harness for this too. I use the Sitka Mountain Harness, but several other companies have good ones too (marsupial gear, FHF, badlands, etc.)

I use the Rick Young during the warmer months and when scouting. I have a horn hunters that opens away from me that I use for turkey and rut to late season deer when I may want to have calls on me too. It has an included range finder pouch, and I can attach my turkey calls to it too.

I SRT climb, and they are an annoyance when climbing a little, but not enough to prevent me from using them.
