How to rappel with MadRock Safeguard without dying?

Agree with the guy that said take a climbing class somewhere.

Then read the manual of the Madrock and compare it to the advice you see on FB groups and YouTube. Then ask yourself how much technical training the guys spewing out regurigated "advice" truly have. It's your life

I know this is an old thread, but for me personally, after messing around with a few mechanical devices. I still prefer to rappel with a figure 8 and a friction hitch. I have gotten rid of all my mechanical devices at this point. Different strokes for different folks.

I ascend with a schwabisch hitch and descend with one below my figure 8 and am very happy and confident in doing so while one sticking. To each their own.

I think that I’m going to do the same- how’s the schwabish working for you below the figure 8? Better than a regular prusik?
