How To Smooth Edge Of Platform On Stick

Hey friends. I’m new to the saddle game. I’ve seen lots of videos where people say when climbing and attaching your stick, if you set the tether over the platform to keep it in place, make sure you have the edges sanded down. But I haven’t seen anyone actually say how. Now this may be as simple as using regular sand paper, but I wanted to be 100% sure.

Have y’all done this and how do you do it?

Thanks friends.

I use a Dremel with a carbide burr. It is much faster and more aggressive and I smooth it with the sanding drum after breaking the edge to about 1/8".

If you don't have a Dremel you can also use a mill bastard file. It's just a slower process but they are like 6 bucks, dremels are... Much more. Great excuse to buy a new tool though!

I wrapped mine with 550 para cord.

Wrapping also helps with grip and silence. I vet wrapped the front center of my stick platform to protect the rope when climbing. When it started raining during the hunt, my rubber boots were prone to slip and squeak on the bare platform, but the vet tape was firm, quiet footing. I’ll probably wrap the whole thing.
