Hungry fat kid problems

This is going to sound crazy but stay with me here... butter coffee. I have had some friends dieting that have said that coffee with some butter in it helps to stop feelings of hunger throughout the day and they swear by it. I've never tried it so I recommend this with caution, but my buddy swears by it and says he feels less hungry throughout the day when he does it. I figure if that's the case, it should allow you to bring less food in with you when you go out.

Actually, in the high fat low carbohydrate world we call that bullet proof coffee. I have no idea where or how the name arrived, but the purists use ghee, not just regular butter. It Hass to be mixed very very well, or otherwise it has a funky texture. Gher is clarified butter. If you put butter in a pot and melt it, and then remove all of the solids that float to the top, what you have left is ghee.

Ghee Is essentially pure fat. The type of fat that it is is called a medium chain triglycerides. For short recall and MCT. It is a fat that burns fat. Coconut oil is another MCT. Some people will also mix in coconut oil with their ghee in there coffee.

This works for me. I have been doing it for almost a year now. I have a little water and then a decent sized black coffee with a tab of grass fed butter in it. I don’t eat until lunch. I start to feel pretty hungry about an hour before lunch but I think it’s good to let your body feel hunger.

I snack on delux mixed nuts. No peanuts. Throw them in a ziplock. Fats are key to feeling full.

Thank you for explaining that, makes way more sense than how I put it :tearsofjoy:

I tried butter in my coffee, and it is disgusting. Can you achieve the same by eating some butter and then drinking coffee. This approach is more appealing to my taste buds.

For what it’s worth, not all ghee is the same. Some of the store bought stuff is absolutely foul. I used to buy a brand called OMGhee. It’s single source organic and grass fed. It has a very sweet taste to it. I can eat it by the spoonful. Website went offline a while ago. Hopefully it comes back up soon. Best ghee I’ve ever had.

And if you’re wondering on how to say “ghee”. It’s hard “G” like “geek” without the letter “k”.

Bacon coffee sounds better than butter coffee so why can’t I just put a spoonful of bacon grease in my coffee???

My kids eat these from Costco. I throw them in my bag and they're almost silent to snack on.

Coconut oil works if you don't like the butter thing.

For your body to create energy it burns fats primarily, until there are no more fats to be burn, or until there is an extremely high demand and then your body burns phosphorus.

Is this called the incendiary diet? :D

I just use HWC (heavy whipping cream) in my coffee. It mixes completely in coffee. It also doesn't activate the poop chute. If you shake up HWC you get butter so it is functionally the same as adding butter only makes better coffee.

Interestingly, your body can only burn phosphates for periods of about 30 seconds. I’m not sure what the recovery time is between.

Oh. you mean adenosine tri phosphate (ATP). That is the main energy source. ATP goes to ADP (adenosine di phosphate) and a free phosphate. The energy in the chemical bond is used to power cellular processes.

A little different. ATP is a product of cellular respiration (also known as the Krebs cycle). Each cell makes about 32 ATP during the process of aerobic metabolism and about 6 during anaerobic metabolism. Here’s a funny tid bit of info that’s sure to create confusion. Adenosine is used to slow heart rate. It’s a parasympathomimetic. The phosphate that comes from cellular respiration is a tri-phosphate (made of of three different phosphate molecules. We’re talking about phosphorus, specifically, in terms of short period of high demand.

Glucose is needed for the Krebs cycle to make ATP. The electron transport chain creates the majority of the ATP- something like 26 ATP. When demand is so high, Glucose ant get the job done fast enough, but phosphorus can, but it’s not sustainable.
