Hunter Workout Programs

I lift weights 4 days a week usually, with cardio on some of those days (because I hate it). My preferred split is chest/tris, back/bi’s, shoulders, and legs. Take a day off, repeat. I get lazy and sometimes it’s a 2 day break maybe 3 haha. It definitely helps with hunting. I also eat pretty clean.

Structured program? No. Steal from several and do what makes sense for me. We call what we do crossfit'ish. High intensity 30-45 minute workouts 4-5 days a week. We focus primarily on compound movements with a pretty significant focus on legs/core/back. As a non-trainer type, I would say if someone was looking for one thing to do with the flexibility to do it at home or a gym it would pretty hard to beat Murph no vest. May have to start with a quarter or half Murph and build up to a full. Then add a vest and start over building back up to a full Murph with a vest.

I’m in the program myself lol. CrossFit-ish with the home gym, but I’ll switch it up from time to time.

What I did last year is rucking. I put 60 pounds in my pack and walked for an hour or more. The state park I used had a tower on it that was 60 feet high. I would also climb the steps 2-3 times a week 5 times.

My legs were in shape when I got to the mountains in Colorado. This year I have gym membership as well.

I'd like to lose about 20 pounds though so I'll be dieting as well. I'm 45 and just want to lessen the impact on my joints. Currently at 210 pounds with an athletic build.

1.5 inch gas pipe comes in 10 foot lengths at your local flavor of hardware box store. Cut 18 inches from each end and you’ll have a 7 foot fat bar, and two dumbell handles. Just need some duct tape and collars. Cheapest way to a very useful setup if anyone is looking at equipment. Just add a bench and weights and you can do just about everything a gym membership will get you.

Since this is SH.com…what could we put in those pipes to tailor the weight were we want it and streamline the pack in/out?!? Would totally avoid the big round weights! Game changer!

A mixture of lead shot and sand should work pretty well. Spray foam to create compartments for locating the weight.

Cheap barbells brand new are $70. And you can find rusty ones to take a wire wheel to on Marketplace or Craigslist for less. I’d spend my time fabricating weights using concrete and molds rather than a barbell any day.

My wife tried being a beachbody coach a few years ago and while I don't recommend any of their products the Beachbody on Demand (BOD) has stuck with us. It's basically netflix of beachbody programs. There are 3 or 4 programs that I'll cycle through throughout the year and I still like them at this point. 35-45 minutes a pop and I feel worked out by the end. Cheaper than a gym membership, though I did need to buy some dumbells to start and occassionally need to buy more to progress. Currently doing Lift4 to try and get some muscle on before I cut down for bikini season. Then I'll switch to the Prep to start getting in shape and graduate to the Work to really get in shape before the season.
The prep and the work are no joke. I am doing 645 now, that is a little easier...
