Hunting GPS?

@Plebe I honestly can’t remember, stuff like this isn’t my specialty, I do remember I bought this 400 through ACR directly thinking if I had any problems service mite be easier, battery change, stuff like that, I remember I called ACR and asked if they ever had any sales and the nice lady gave me a promo code for 10% off right over the phone, we run Garmin Alpha dog tracking gps collars all winter coyote hunting and my brother has informed me I have to upgrade to the new Garmin Alpha 200 handheld soon because he switched to a new system, so I plan on buying a Garmin Alpha 200i sometime in the near future, with inreach capability, between the ACR and 200i I should be set this season hopefully. I have never even performed the recommended test on my PLB yet, I really should do that, I registered it though with NOAA.

Any recommendations for a dedicated GPS unit that works in thick cover?
Garmin 64st. I've had one for about 5 or 6 years now.

The main reason I initially bought it was for navigating my way as I chopped lanes through new growth pine cutovers to make secret trails into good hunting spots on an old lease I was on. We had several thousand acres of this super thick stuff and there was no way to really bow hunt it except to chop into the streamside management zones off deep in those thickets.

I use Gaia GPS. Paid premium version, like $50 a year and totally worth it. Blows onX out of the water . Better map packs. USGS ultra high detail topos and tons of sat maps . Not a hunting app more for other outdoor folks but works great
