Hunting Hoody

Sitka has a heavy weight hoodie that has that same built in face mask as the fanatic line that I really like and wear often. Just wore it yesterday scouting in 30* temps

No experience with this, and it is a softshell not a fleece. But it looks like a fair bit of insulation:

  • Thermal Mapped Thinsulate™ Insulation
    200g back & handwarmer pocket / 150g body / 100g hood & sleeves

That one looks pretty solid! Not sure how quiet it is though.

Been looking for the same thing, regardless of whether it’s saddle-focused. The features I want are:
1. Very quiet
2. Light absorbing (like fleece or wool)
3. Warm
4. Good camo (Sitka or FL patterns, not mimicry camo)
5. Quarter-zip
6. Kangaroo pocket
7. Articulated hood
8. Stretchy fabric
9. Wind-resistant (at least)
10. Tapered sleeves

Day one camo offers a great hoodie that checks off 9 of your ten bullet points. (Limited in camo). Check them out. You have to add the windproof as an extra.

I always wanted to see what their Cowboy suede is like. Someone complained their thread glows under UV, I don't know if that was a one off or the norm. I've never UV tested my stuff, so ignorance is bliss?

I can check my gear later and report back. I wouldn't be concerned with it either way. I ordered some cowboy suede and wish I ordered all of it the same. The parka that I got windstop with has the best material in my opinion. Durable and silent. I believe he uses a thiner suede if you get windstop. The other cowboy suede stuff I ordered unlined seems more like fleece to me. Still very happy with the gear for warmth and preformance. Great fit and available in ASAT which was what I was looking for.

He has some of the Camo patterns in regular fleece or light fleece. Maybe the cowboy suede is the same? I have some regular fleece pants and pullover that I still use regularly… I bought them in the mid to late 90s. At that time, he sourced the fleece (Dacron) from American mills. Not sure about now.

They have fleece, light fleece, cotton, and cowboy suede as material choices.

Windstop, Insulated Windstop, and Scentlok for liner options.

Is their wind membrane quiet?

I ordered this hoody yesterday. I'm not sure how quiet it will be and I wish it was of a more light absorbing shell like wool or fleece but, the side zips and the pocket layout might work well with the saddle.

The Kings Hoody that I thought was lost by Fed Ex randomly showed up at my door yesterday. My first impressions from only messing around with it in my house.

Pro's

- It is fairly quiet. Definitely quieter than my Stratus set
- Seems like it will be really warm.
-Pocket layout is good. Has two large chest pockets. The handwarmer pocket has zippers on both sides and is fleece lined.
-Side zips not only help getting it off and on but, seem like they will work perfectly with a saddle. The zips are on both sides and are slightly towards the front, almost exactly where your bridge loops would be.

Con's

-A little bulky. I expected this and it may be warm enough to make up for it.

Those are my impressions from spending 5 minutes with it inside my house. I ordered the large and it fits me with a t-shirt on but, there is no room for layering so I don't think I will be keeping it. It did peak my interest on the new version Kings is supposedly coming out with though. The matching bib pants they offer seem perfect for saddle hunting also.

I received the Scentlok Revenant today. Ordered it in medium and large. Medium fits my shorter torso better (5'7 height), but the large accomodates my 45in chest.

I was wearing a thin hoody (like t-shirt material) and had a hard time getting my hands through the cuffs...they are tight, with no way to loosen them.

The jacket is bulky, but it is what it is if you want more warmth.

It's 23º with 20mph winds at my place today. Went out and stood in the wind for a few minutes. Warmer than my Pnuma Waypoint, but not worth keeping due to the poor fit for my torso and the tight cuffs.

I have the Anorak arriving tomorrow. Wanted to be able to compare the two.

Just got approved for a Sitka Pro account today so hope to try out the Fanatic jacket and bibs, but the bibs aren't in stock in medium or large currently so will be waiting on those.

What’s your size for reference if you don’t mind. Do you normally wear a L in jackets? I’ve got a L on order in the same jacket so just trying to get an idea.

I'm 6', 185lbs, 34" waist. I'm usually in between a large and X-large. My Sitka Stratus is an X-large and fits pretty well but I've had some X-large jackets that were too big. I went back and forth on which one to order and ended up choosing the large.

I wear a large in pretty much any jacket but ordered an xl in the king's xkg hoodie because of some of the reviews I read. Definitely glad I did it gave me room for a couple layers underneath but doesn't feel too big at all.

What are your thoughts on the Pnuma Waypoint?

Quality stuff! My first season wearing it and used it from 50s down to the 20s. Probably 20ish times out in this set and it still looks like it just came out of the bag. I one-sticked all season and ended up ditching my external knee pads because the integrated knee pads on these did the trick. Zipper that ran in between the legs up to the crotch was a winner for heat dumping. Same with side zips on the jacket.

Haven’t had to use the warranty, but guaranteed for life (although I’ve heard customer service can be pretty slow).

Bonus: I love that Merino Wool Beanie they sell. Wore that all season once it got down to the 50s.

I’m in SE Wisconsin and I’d advertise this set as Oct - the Rut. I hunted a handful of times in Dec and this would keep me warm for about 4 hours. But all day sits in late season you’ll want something warmer.

Not sure if this has been posted.

I got my kings camo xkg anorak in today, my impressions:
I’m 6’1” with a 45” chest and 37” waist trending toward dad bod sadly but working on that. Broad shoulders with 36.5” sleeves. I sometimes run in a L, sometimes XL. Kings lists the anorak L as fitting a size 47” chest so I took a gamble. First impressions are same as @GCTerpfan, it’s very quiet, the pocket layout is awesome. Love the two way zippers. The high loft fleece is awesome. Sleeve length is perfect for me and I have long arms. The monkey paws are sweet. It definitely fits like a large on me, it’s snug with not much room underneath, I could pull it on over my baselayer but nothing else, I think it would be perfect if I had gotten an XL as an outer layer to throw on over my vest or insulating layer. I haven’t decide if I’m going to keep it or not. I’m leaning towards returning it because I already have an insulating layer. If anyone wants a pic let me know

I got my Kings XKG anorak yesterday and agree that if you’re usually between sizes, get the size up. I’m normally between a M and L and took a chance on the L. I think it fits good with room for a mid layer underneath. It’s a hair bulky due to the material I guess, but I believe this jacket is gonna be money for me and the way I hunt.

Just an FYI, as of yesterday Camofire had 3 XL left in stock. I ordered one for my dad.
