Heater body suits, if you have one or used one.
Heater Body vs. Artic Shield vs. IWOM

And, do they work and how practical - they are not cheap.

I have a HBS that I modified to use with the saddle. I don't use it often but, for really cold days, especially all day sits in rifle season it can't be beat. I have never tried the other options.

Just bought a pnuma (check spelling) heated vest. I have a HBB but im thinking this may eliminate the need for my HBB. I also bought the first
Lite sanctuary bib and jacket. I hunted 8*F last year all day saddle sit with the sanctuary set up.
No issues.

where is the thread for this? I want to see how you have it modded if you don't mind.

I don't have pics of mine but there are links to some pics of the one I bought for my son in this thread.

I have a IWOM. it would need either a bunch of leg modifications or at lest a hole for leg loops and still wouldn’t be able to walk around the tree much I think.I bought a new set of bibs to try but want to figure out a solution for My IWOM

IWOM with rock climbing harnesses underneath backed up with tether through pee hole zipper, and fleece or sit drag on outside. I just deal with the limited foot movement, its better than freezing. I climb wild edge steps with a knaider with it in parka mode. You have to make sure that the foot box is secured really well for climbing in parka mode, so that you don'tget tangled up. Milwaukee m12 heated hoodie next to base layers, then a vest. The only thing that I don't like about this hoodie is the battery bulge.

Been using HBS for probably 5+ years and still love it for when it gets below 25ish degrees. The suspended straps where and still are the hardest part of the system to figure out, but still super easy to operate. I've hunted to -12 degrees in pretty windy conditions with no I'll effect on anything.

And sdonx, that heated vest, real deal? I almost pulled the trigger but missed the deal they had, now I thinks its back for Vet's day, have you used it in the filed yet? And sizes are true to size charts? Do you plan to wear next to skin?

I have not used it yet. It will get a workout during my Maine hunt after Thanksgiving. Guys were raving about it on the Hunting Beast. I plan on wearing outside of my base layers. Sizing seems true.

For those that have or had the HBS, can you wear them (up to waist, not fully over upper body) and walk in shorter distances, maybe 1/4 mile or so?

I don't think I could walk in mine at all. It's pretty baggy and bulky and has feet built into the suit.
I don't even climb in mine. I put it on in the tree, I've done it on both a platform and on a ring of WE steps. It takes some acrobatics and thinking each move through so your never unattached but it can be done.

No walking around in that thing! I did climb a ladder stand in it when I first got it, no bueno, I do not recommend.

For use in a saddle I'd go with high dollar bibs/jacket but if its ground/stand sitting I'd have a IWOM. I've owned a HBS and didn't care for the bulk of it or the way it slides off, The IWOM is unreal warm and I mean from my feet to my head. Bibs and a jacket ( at least the ones I've owned) didn't compare to the IWOM but you would have to heavily modify to use in a saddle somehow.

So, cost taking out of the equation, would you all go with a suit system or Sitka/First Lite bibs and coat system?

I loved my HBB. But when I went to a saddle I did not even try to incorporate it into my system.
I went right for the bib jacket combo.
First lite Sanctuary setup worked great for me last year.
