I’m at 12 hours straight in the saddle

So...now that we establish that knee pads or equivalent will help (required IMO) with the loooonnnggg sits, let's talk back band. This is an area I think we can improve on. The duffle bag strap or something like tethrd sells works ok. Definitely is more comfy than nothing at all but IMO there is going to be a better solution that offers a little more support. I repurposed a strap on tree stand back rest and it is awesome, and works for me, but I still see need for improvement....i really surprised I haven't seen any diy builds that improve on what is currently being used. I got a bad back and a back band is also required for me on long sits....

I envision something like a mini 2.panel saddle that u can adjust each panel independent so u can get the upper back and lumbar support

Here is the thing I been using and it is very comfortable. The spring steel frame is great because it really gives u good support but the spring steel frame sucks because now I have to carry a giant pringle that has a ridged frame....it not so bad but I think there is something better

Here is another idea for you for cheap, lightweight knee relief. It works for me.

Cheap new tree pad for knees

My knee pads are 1 of the few things I'll turn around and go back to get if I forget them....I only make it a couple hours without...U have tough knees my friend
For about the first ten years that I hunted from the saddle, I never used knee pads. At the time I worked in the coal mines and was used to crawling around on the ground over rocks & all. Now that I've gotten away from that line of work ive gotten soft & now find that I really want em. Not bad enough that I wouldn't hunt if I left em, but would definitely miss em. Heck, now my knees even get aching WITH knee pads on. So i'm looking into getting a better pair!

I will use them once my new bag comes in. It’s decided. Nutterbuster has spoken. And I’ve started rappelling down again, so I can just take my K/S off, knee pads on and away we go.

I used a Hawk seat pad yesterday for an all day sit an won't go back to knee pads again on longer sits. There's no sliding with a seat pad, no sweating under the knee pads and I don't have to contort my knees from sliding around on the tree with the seat pad. For me while on longer sits, the seat pad is worth the extra bulk. I'm guessing the pool noodle idea that @mtsrunner came up with will work the same, if not better. The seat pad had velcro loops on the back so I just looped a NiteIze camjam around the tree and looped the velcro from the seat pad through to attach it to the tree.

Today was my first hunting day in the saddle and I did an easy six hours. Only meant to stay four hours. Had people blowing my silenced phone up. Started to get hungry, checked time and was like OH NO. I was in the JX3. Need to slimline my system, but I really enjoyed the day, even if it was boring. There were shots all over the place, but I didn’t see anything.
