I had strings, but now I'm free...

To be perfectly honest...no.

I have an awesome family. But friends are hard to find and harder to keep when all you do is work and pursue hobbies that are mainly solitary endeavors. Like hunting. People who want to wake up at 2am to go wade through the swamp to shoot 3 birds or see a couple of deer just out of bow range are hard to find.

Finding you freaks was like finding a group of furries. It was liberating to know I wasn't the only weirdo out there.
Just joined a few months ago, but this is the best post I’ve read yet. Underneath nutterbuster’s master word-smithing lies what makes this forum great. A group of like-minded people who are passionate about something to the point of being “weird”. Cheers to that!

Taking the MOD hat off and speaking from the heart for a couple of seconds.

First, I applaud you for your decision. I just hope it wasn't completely due to pressure from the forum. I understand not wanting to feel tied to a specific product or needing to sign an NDA that I may forget to abide by after few adult beverages. As others have said, I too have passed on several opportunities to test and/or represent products. Personally its just not for me but I can certainly understand the allure and wanting to back and support products you believe in. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that and if that's for you, wear that hat with pride.

Honestly I too am a little more sensitive as to what I post and how I respond here given the role that I have accepted. I accept that responsibility though. When asked if I was interested in participating in a moderator role here by @redsquirrel I only had to think about it for a short time. I saw it as an opportunity to give back to Scott, the forum and most of all the members from whom I've learned so much and feel like I've come to know as friends by helping out to keep this place the friendly environment that it has been throughout the past. I honestly believe that is the primary reason that all of the moderators donate their time here. We truly enjoy the forum (Thanks again Scott), the environment, the people and the hunting topics (including the new commercial products). After all we're all saddle hunting gear junkies at heart too.

For the rest of the members that may read this please understand that we are really trying hard to find a equitable solution for all as we work to evolve the rules while finding a balance that meets as many needs as possible and still keeps the forum a fun and inviting place to hang out. Thanks for you patience.

Friends are overrated.....I am lucky to have 1 person I can really count on besides family. I wouldn't want to ruin that friendship by mixing hunting into it. He hunts and so do I but don't together because, like nutters said, he would just hinder me and I him
I was contacted by a manufacturer....it's exciting.... I can see the allure. Just not for me....
As far as the recent drama I have nothing to contribute. If the rules made it no fun anymore than I'd just stop visiting. I'm here 60% for goofing off, 39% trying to help with new ideas/diy stuff, 1% pretending to give advice on hunting (I'm not the best hunter).

I could be wrong, but even if your a ''pro'' on a ''pro staff'' your still not quitting your day job....

Glad I'm not alone. Outside of work, I mostly hang out with friends of my wife's that I "married" into. High school/college friends have slowly drifted away for various reasons. My older brother is who I hunt with when I get the chance. Outside of that I hunt/fish alone usually.

I've deeply questioned why I spend countless hours on hunting forums. This nails it though. I've not seen a more relatable post, probably ever.

@boyne bowhunter I had a conversation with another mod just this morning. I fully support the rules. I think they're fair. I tried to abide by them and had no problem doing so.

I dunno, being a "pro" just kinda sanitized the whole thing. I have no bad blood with you guys or TL.

I'm just a freebird, and this bird you cannot change.

So you decided you would rather spend your time on the interweb with us weirdos who have no friends and forego the early access to test and develop new gear along with rubbing elbows with the industry big wigs? Where is your ego man?? Yup, you're a weirdo lol.

Never considered you gone no matter what your title says but welcome back anyway. Your decision speaks volumes about the members who make up this forum and why all of us have found a home we love to hang out at.

You remind me of the heckler in Happy Gilmore. Every time that guy pops up, no matter how many times I watch the movie, I belly-laugh.

"Ya jibber-jabberer!!"

Bless you, brother.
You should try living within an hour of him....
