If you had the money.....

Any one of them. My sitdrag is bulky, heavy and very crude it its basic functions. I'd love a legitimate, well thought out designed saddle.

I would say the phantom, or any manafactured saddle that was safe to wear without a RCH. I love the fleece saddle, but I think a one-piece saddle harness combo would be more manageable.

When I used to have money :fearful:...I bought a Phantom and a JX3 :p

Phantom

The phantom just simply works as good or better with comfort and function without the bulk of other designs.
Everyone is different and may like different things but this saddle seems to fit the most people with little to no negative feedback.
I’ve had about every commercial saddle available chasing the perfect setup and to be honest they all worked but each needed this or that it seemed.
The phantom just seems to have it all IMO.

I love my kestrel for its relative comfort and Lightness. I have not used the mantis or phantom. I have used the guido web, the aero hunter I was hopping to try the Tethrd tour when it was in my area.

You've tried everything in the saddle world....not just saddles. Gear slut :tearsofjoy:

Phantom for sure.

Next, probably the tactisaddle. I like the adjustability factor. Some people find comfort right away but others need to tweak things. So basically any saddle that has different "settings" would be a good choice.

The Sit drag is bulky and heavy? Huhhh
I tried out 5 saddles and I’m at a sitdrag right now. I do plan to make my own soon.

Aero Hunter Kite. It's the saddle I finally settled on.

You can see from the responses that there is no perfect saddle but, everyone has a saddle that is perfect for them.
Absolutely. The price difference between the cheapest and most expensive saddles are negligible if the comfort, ease of use or bulkiness of one or the other is a big deal to you. My jx3 is super comfortable and user friendly. It was definitely worth the cost of a new one. I don’t care to shoot a traditional bow from it.
I had a kestrel. It was bomb proof and comfort was always great. It did creep down when walking and occasionally take my pants with it. Still a good value.
I have the kite it’s comfortable but although it is now a year old I haven’t hunted from it.
I also have a phantom. It’s comfortable, compact and lightweight. It’s the only one I would throw in a backpack and take on an elk hunt just in case I found a water hole I wanted to hunt. Yet it’s comfortable enough to hunt all day in.
If all I did was rifle hunt my family’s land and never walked more than a quarter mile I would hunt a jx3.
If I was going to put new saddle hunters in it every weekend it would be the kestrel because of the structure and foolproof buckle system.
My personal favorite go anywhere do anything saddle is the phantom. The kite may be a close second especially If I had upgraded the buckles.

Now a disclaimer.
I may be considered biased toward tethrd.
I haven’t sat in a Yarak, Flex, anything H2, the Recon, or any of the other new companies saddles.

I would try the Recon.

I have a Kestrel and am perfectly happy with it though so no immediate plans to buy another saddle.

I have always been comfortable in my "last saddle" until I try the next one. I just never know which one will be the best so i just keep trying. I started with an Aero Evo when it came out but at that time I didn't have enough saddle experience to know how to tune it in for me. There were too many adjustments and I never dialed it in.

I went from there to a Kestrel, Wow, instant comfort, almost no adjustments and so much lighter but, for me it seems to ride up and I get a little pinch when seated, great leaning but not so great sitting. Also had to wear suspenders to keep it up around my flat butted waist while walking.

From there I went to a Mantis. Super minimalist and super comfy sitting for me. Used that exclusively for two years and never thought I'd look back. Then I made a DIY Phantom style. Even more minimalist (DIY means no extra frills I don't use anyway like lineman's and molle loops) and even more comfortable sitting.

At this point I'm only looking minimalist for my use so next on the list will be a Recon. How do I know it isn't better if I don't try it right? I don't know if I'll ever settle completely. Maybe someday there'll be a super comfortable, super strong dental floss saddle and I'll have to try it too. Some of us just don't know when to quit . . . right @Ontariofarmer? :tearsofjoy:

Really all the new saddles seem good. Pluses and minuses with each one. And personal opinion varies depending on body type, weapon, climate, how far you walk and cost can be an issue.

There are things I like about the Jx3 and the H2 and the flex And the phantom and the recon and the kestrel. I have tried them all.
You couldn’t go wrong with any of them.
My favourite last fall was the Jx3 which I will continue to use.

This fall I will be trying the recon and H2 and phantom.
If I only had one of those I would likely be happy.

I will likely sell two of those three and try another one or two saddles next year. I don’t lose much doing that and it is fun trying new saddles.

If I had the coin I'd buy enough private land that it wouldn't matter what I had but would definitely have one that was completely rigged to me

If I had the money I still couldn’t bring myself to spend more than $200 on a saddle. I’m cheap like that.

With that being said the Recon is on my short list to hunt out of.
