In the Rochester NY area

To all who wish to attend.... I'm gonna call this the 1st Annual Hemlock Lake Saddle Rendezvous.
Looks like the best weather forecast is the 10th & 11th- partly sunny & 56 degrees. The next best is the 18th, sunny and 53 degrees.
So lets get a tally of who can go what day

I'm gonna say this as a disclaimer. This is not a sponsored event but a common ground get together. Due to COVID, please use common sense.

We can have demos of our own personal gear, present new methods of climbing, share/show or talk about hunting methods, and then for those who want we can have an archery shoot. I can get a few 3D targets.. Across from the park entrance to the west about 50-75 yrds is a mowed lane way heading north parallel with the red line on the attachment to the left of the "R" in Rix Hill. That lane way is state land with plenty of trees to climb and shoot from. I suggest we not shoot or climb in the park as to make sure we cause zero tree damage and be 500' from any structure.. I'm also thinking,,, bring a blanket for trade goods, bows, clothing, packs, saddles, any gear you want to trade or sell.
The adjoining land is the Hemlock/Canadice state forest. Here is the link to review.

Hemlock Lake Park

Pavilion may not be reserved ahead of time but may be used on a first come, first served basis.
Carry in/Carry out. Household pets are allowed if on a leash not longer than 6' or in a carrier. Pet owners must clean up after their pets and have valid proof of rabies vaccination with them.

11th should be good for me, 18th as a back up for sure. Great small mouth fishing in Hemlock. Pickerel is fun if you want to fight a toothy critter. I can bring a 3D target if needed. Nothing fancy just a Glen Del.

Yes for all you folks who never have visited Hemlock Lake there are 2ea hiking trails on each side of the lake and an awesome place to canoe, kayak, or take your 10hp or less boat motor to go fishing. Its forever wild and you will see eagles flying by etc.. Should be a fun day if the rain stays away...

I’m good for the 10th. Personally think you get better turn outs on sat than sun

A tad too far for me and i am still being careful with the covid stuff. This is the only time i wished i was fifty already, but i am not quite there.
I have wanted to check out hemlock lake, but will do it some other time. Have fun fellas!

Bowmanmike,
Yes, I totally understand. I almost 66 and got my 1st moderna shot last night. I worked from home the past 11 yrs before I retired so I wasn't in the office setting anymore. The home office staff all got covid so it was not so fun..
Bstrong,
Yep, I'm good with what ever the majority wanta do

Met up last night with Pilk64. He uses spikes for climbing. His rig is all figured out and compact. He let me try me his predator standard sized platform. I had the XL traced out on cardboard and I'm glad as I want the larger platform. He really liked my Recon comfort as well. I think its always greet to put a face and personality with a name.

I am also a little leary(is that how you spell it?) about trying diffetent gear as i am trying hard to not spend money on saddle stuff this year. Last year was my first and that took a chunk of money.

Hey all, I just saw this thread. I'm in Rochester (Gates, actually). My first full year in a saddle was last season. I'm 61. Have a Kestrel Flex and did the one stick/rappel thing. Please PM me or post if you'd like to meet up one on one for a little while on a weeknight or whatever. I'd also be interested in the Hemlock get together. LMK firm date and times.

Loucamp,
I'm trying to get a consensus for the meet up date now for Hemlock lake Park
How many want the 10th?
How many want the 11th?

Everyone who can attend, looks like Saturday the April 10th @ 10am. That should give the folks who have to travel to get here w/o getting up real early.
The weather forecast is partly cloudy, 62, 30% chance of showers.
The location is up above in my other post.. I have a spot picked out so we can try our gear and shoot if you like. If you have stuff to trade or sell, its a good time to bring it... Bring a pack lunch as the closest place to eat is about 7 miles away.
My cell is 585-478-8074 if you get lost, have questions, etc. Just leave a message and I'll call ya right back. Thanks, Steve

UPDATE:
Due to only 3 total folks who committed to attend the saddle rendezvous we decided to call it off for Saturday the 10th..

I’m sorry y’all, I’m stuck working that day. It’d probably be a real good time, and the park looks beautiful.

UPDATE: Due to only 3 total folks who committed to attend the saddle rendezvous we decided to call it off for Saturday the 10th..

I tried many times to get everyone together, but only 3ea responded that they could do Saturday and one on Sunday. It's dead on my end for now.

I'm in Webster (east of Rochester) - just saw this thread and been collecting equipment since the end of last season to give saddle hunting a go. My work/family schedule is nuts but if I can ever figure a meet I'd love to see stuff or get climbing tips. Subscribing to this thread!

After turkey season I will put this out there again for a get together and see what interest we have.
The 5 folks that responded have a kestral, phantoms, recons, predator gen 2 and XL as well as custom one sticks, shi1kar double step stick, and several different repel devices. So there is enough equipment for folks to try out some different gear and learn some tricks real time as well as meet up with our brethren.
