While it feels like everyone else in the country is deer hunting, down here in Bama where we have another month until bow opener, I spent the day fishing at a buddies farm with little man. We had some success! A couple were toads that had the drag screaming. Caught them all on the Senko but not from the saddle, @g2outdoors have you accomplished that goal yet?

Nope, just there for size reference and face of wonder.

If he had of hooked into one like that, he would have been pulled off the dock and into the water. He just had the training plug and was working on casting and reeling.

Catching fish with the kids is a close second to hunting with them. Good times for sure. Enjoy em while they are young, they grow and go pretty fast!

You might be surprised. Set the drag and enjoy the show. It usually pretty funny when they get something more than a little perch on the line. My son accidentally caught a huge reddish one day. It was great the fish was 28” he was maybe 40” tall.

No kidding bud. Here in south central MS. No end in sight for the heat and I get to see hunting updates on the forums, it’s killing me.
I’ll go get nostril deep in the river to soothe the pain. Nice to see you and the kid making the best of it!

One time last year when we were out fishing, I took bass I caught, hooked them reel good after landing them. I then released them and let them take the line out. Then he would catch them. It was pretty awesome.

Here in North Alabama it supposed to reach 99 and that is in the shade. It is super dry and the White Oaks are already dropping with no rain in sight, may be a tough year. I would think all presets and scouting are likely wiped out.

It will be a different year. Just will have to find where the deer are bedding and eating come Oct 15th.
