Iowa or Bust

Lotta good area there. Good luck, enjoy it. Bucks are just startin to cruise in daylight from what I’ve seen so you are hitting perfect time. Lotta rain today around the state so you gotta stay ready, don’t count on having sound warning, might not get the lead crunching you’d expect. I’m sure this isn’t advice for you but I’ll give it anyway; you waited a long time for the tag, eyes up.
 
Oh wow. Trip of a lifetime huh. Soak it all in and enjoy every minute. Hope the deer of your dreams comes home in the back of your truck. Keep us updated and shoot straight my friend ;)
 
I got up at 2am today. Took me 11 hours to get here. Camp is all set up, I am at River Valley Lodge and Campgroung. Hanging out with the Wranglers. I know they are not as much fun as saddle hunters. But at least they have saddles :).
Got a NW Wind tomorrow. Trying the .75 with Origin steps. Hunting the area I killed a 10 point in 2014.

PS: My goal are to be safe, have fun and maybe tag a good one. If I get the first 2 I will be happy.

You huntin or hangin out with Cookie at camp? Where da dead deer pics? Or at least an update???

I'm an hour and 15 minutes South of you! I've only seen one buck chasing and he was young.

It's warmer here (71) then in Ky.
Yesterday I hunted a west wind. I have knee issues so no saddle. Tried my .75 and Origin steps. I got too extream with step spacing, easy fix, big benifit to steps. Steps worked good so far. My low ditch funnel did not pan out. A tree fell since last March changing deer movement. Relocated 50 yards south, set up a ground spot.

Today hunted (another ditch funnel) a SE wind that keep blowing from the north. Tried my Crossover, I guess I am not a climber guy, may end up selling it. Saw my first deer a fork horn at 9am.

Should have a NW Wind in the morning. Hunting a high funnel. The low is 49, I dont expect much deer movement. It's going to turn colder the low temp Monday is 21 with a NW Wind. That should get them moving.
