Is hawk shipping heliums?

Mine"s here, sitting in the box. I looked them over and put 'em back in box. Still having vacuum therapy on a leg wound. Hopefully in another week or so I can do more than look at 'em,,ha--- Got an aider made per Slo Mo's video. Think I'll go with Dano's daisy chains also.

Just put mine together. Only damage was me chipping some of the coating off one of them accidentally when I was assembling them.

Overall, I like them so far, but haven't tried them in a tree. I will definitely be looking for some type of rope replacement for the straps. They just seem too clunky to fumble with while I'm climbing.

Yeah. First climb and I don’t like the straps. I had picked up some amsteel but then I thought I I’d need way tighter button. So I think I’ll grab 25’ climbing rope and try that.

Can you expand on "need way tighter button"? I was wanting to do Amsteel but I'm a rookie and not sure why you don't think it will work. Thx

Amsteel on a versa works fine - at least it has form me since they first came out several years ago.

Well I got time to play with the new toy and noticed that 5 of the 6 buttons used to attach the sticks together came broke from Mack's Prairie wings. I emailed them tonight. I dislike what I see so far. The broke parts just take a little wind out of the sails. View attachment 12832
I recieved a box today from Mack's prairie wings with 2 replacement buttons instead if the 5 I need, even though I specifically stated in the email 5 buttons had broke. Oh well, I had pretty much decided to take them off anyway, dont think they will last long even if all were replaced. I said I would let you how Mack's handled the damaged shipment. Now you know. I still really like the sticks though.

I caved after seeing the pics of Gregs mods he did to his. I have a set coming from Macks to cut down and mod. Pretty excited for another project I haven't had one in a while! :D

Forgive my ignorance, but which mods would those be? I just got my stick in ready for modding.

Check out G2outdoors on Facebook he posted a bunch. Mainly cut them down, added versa straps, changed the suction cups and painted them. Turned out really nice!

Same. Do you know the exact rubber foot he's using? Tried to find some on Amazon. There's a lot to choose from. I'm removing the suction cups and posts. They're a joke.

Perfect example of the addiction that is being a member of this great forum:

I already have four $72 each DIY/@DanO Beast-like sticks and I couldn't resist the $84 sale of these news Heliums on MidwayUSA.

I was interested in the suction cup idea from the ATA video and always liked and respected @DaveT1963's extensive experience with them, so I figured why not. It'll give me a folding step design to compare to my DIYs and at such a great price why not invest in a backup set of sticks.

Turns out the suction cup thing is less than I thought it would be. Still tinkering but leaning towards removing all of these and going with Dave's exercise pad mod. Simple and effective.

That said, the sticks are awesome! What a great deal for a great product! I have cut them to 23.75" and I'm working on drilling the holes for the new top step placement (21") and the new versa button placement. Tempted to shorten the buttons a little as they seem tall to me and I'd like the sticks to pack together as tight as possible.

For anyone new to saddle hunting and on a budget you really can't go wrong with these. You can even buy a single 4th stick if you want to avoid aider usage. I think I'm good with Dave's CAYG system and using three. They're heavier at 2 lbs (when chopped) than my Cadillac DIY sticks (1.5 lbs) but the steps fold up and the price to value is remarkable.

What height are guys getting with 3 + an aider?

My aider hangs 24" below the step and I've cut my sticks down to 24" so I get 6 ft with each stick and aider. I can stretch it between steps a little since I'm taller but still roughly 6' per stick.
