My county has some really funny rules on carcasses. Its a very liberal county not into hunting so we get rules like this... "no animal carcasses allowed in trash cans" "no dumping carcasses on any county or state owned land" "no disposing of animal carcasses at the county landfill". I have the strangest feeling the first and last rule dont count on thanksgiving... or for anybody that bought a rotisserie chicken from walmart...cuz well thats different cuz...just cuz.
I asked the head guy of the county managed hunt program where he suggests i dispose of them after explaining to him where i CANT, and he said bury them on my property. Bubba...we aint shooting one deer every 3 yrs. imagine having to bury 12 deer a year on your quarter acre lot in suburbia. lol. We have to trasport all deer shot in the program inside black body bags. Neighbors already think we're "weird" (the media's new favorite word). imagine them watching us drag bodies in a black bag to shed and then to the 4th fresh hole we dug this month. Fine, your stupid-a** rules not mine. We dump places because we literally have to!!
Don't forget to call 811 before you dig as well.

Heck I just throw the carcasses in the heavy duty contractor bags and put them in the garbage. Even leave a hoof hanging out of the garbage can to let the neighbors know they best not play. Haven't said anything yet but I am sure the day will come

Yea... here the garbage truck will just leave it sitting in the sun all day. They are ridiculous about enforcing their stupid rules. The same situation is how this all got started and i learned all the laws/rules. Came home, trash was full. called in. told me nope. went to the dump...told me nope. They go behind a yoga studio now. Those people most likely voted for all this nonsense in one way or another so they can deal with the smell.

Ice in your veins, my mans. I’m inspired like a football team after an Al Pacino speech.

Yeah, I’m honestly shocked that this is a no, anywhere.
In DE it was highly recommended to gut where it lay and only move the gut pile if it was right in the middle of a trail or visible from the parking lot or something.
In OH it’s largely the same, and in both states you have to tag before you can do anything to it at all.
On private land I may drag the deer to a spot where its guts are less conspicuous to other deer, so as not to affect the spot for future hunts, but all the deer I’ve shot in OH have been pushing/over 200 lbs, so I can’t imagine being REQUIRED to move them first.
If it's a CWD Twp. They Want it Buried! or Hauled to My Truck and Taken to the Landfill. You Ever Tried to Shovel a Hole Large Enough for a Whitetail Carcass? But, in the Regular Hunting Regs, They Want You to Leave the Carcass Where it Died so as not to Spread a Disease. To Move Some of Our Ohio Deer I Have to Quarter and Pack to be Able to Move Them.

Civil disobedience is an integral part of human flourishing.

I would probably quit hunting public land altogether if I were going to drag complete deer bodies out of the woods. Or had to gut them for no good reason.
Of all the silly things my city enforces with an iron fist ain’t nobody digging through garbage cans. Case in point we had a sick raccoon wander up to our front porch last week. Cops came to check it out, had to dispatch it, I asked what they needed to do with it after and since my garbage day was the next day I held the bag for him to put it in and tossed it in the bin.

if you live in a place that won’t allow the dumping of a deer carcass here’s my question: what does the department of Public Works do with road kill?

legal to dump a carcass here, BUT Cops who dispatch road killed deer will just drag it to side of road, often middle of sidewalk, and in the case of my poor old cat lady neighbor, right under her mailbox in the pretty rock garden she spent all of one weekend arranging. It’s almost like they try to leave them in the most conspicuous places sometimes.

Oh, and another point...Some state regs say to dispose of guts in a landfill. The greenies tell us that landfills already full and we are running out of space for more of them.
So now I should dispose of a natural, biodegradable thing like deer guts into a full landfill?
Who are these people that want to regulate every aspect of our lives?
So at this point more than half of the US population live in cities. Folks who’ve never had any exposure to rural traditions like hunting simply don’t understand the realities of all the principles and practices they are promoting. So as @kyler1945 suggested we have to advocate for the things we believe in - with actual participation in the process of government, legislation and enforcement.

Our local PD wont dispatch a road injured deer. Wouldnt hold the light for me to finish the job either. Pretty heated yelling match ended just before I needed bail money.

Our dept will dispatch them. I've had to call them several times over the years.
I called them 20+ years ago to report a road injured deer on a rural road and while I was on the phone I told them I was legally carrying a firearm and that I could save them the trouble of coming out, and I also said that I could do so in a safe manner. The dispatcher gave me the "Okay". But times have changed. I highly doubt they would say that now days.

Damn, even them Arkansas 5-0 won’t yank out the 9mm for the chance to bag another buck this year? Strange times indeed.

Nearly all the county or state guys I know would have held the light and let me finish the deer off or done it themselves. City PD got too many rules to follow.

I once called the local cops to dispatch a car injured deer then stood by and waited for them. The cop pulled up walked over and talked to me, checked out the deer, pulled his 9mm and proceeded to miss it at 3 ft. He had to take a follow up shot to put it out for good.

My buddy’s a local deputy, never shot a deer while actually hunting but never missed one while on duty lol. Methods of take ranging from Ford Explorer to .40 S&W to “well shucks, how do we deal with that?” Every year when I talk to him during season, his kill totals rival @Blacksmith but his harvest totals rival a goose egg. He doesn’t count the numerous Booners he’s had to dispatch as trophies though lol. He’s tickled to a rosy hue just seeing a spike when he gets the rare occasion to trade the uniform and cruiser for the camo and treestand.

At least you know which one to run from if the need arises. :p
