I was wondering if I am loading this caribeaner in an unsafe way. If this is unsafe what is the better choice. I do need something with an open gate for the tether rope to pass through.

One end of my tether is permanently attached to my bridge. When I wrap the tether around the tree I need the rope to then pass through a gated object, in this case a caribeaner.

I have used a tether in a traditional way for a few years. I'm experimenting with a different set up and was wondering if it is safe to load like this.

Probably but if I were going to do it all the time, I'd get a steel carabiner. They have a much higher KN rating and steel will likely bend in failure where aluminum tends to snap.

A downside of a screw gate carabineer against the tree is bark jamming up the screw gate threads. When that happened to me I had to put the carabineer in a vice and use channel locks to loosen it up

So would a steel quick link be a better option then?

Slower but probably safer. A quick link is a pretty well established norm for the one stick and rappel crowd. Lots of folks use and recommend it.

I can’t wrap my head around the benefits of the tether permanently attached to the bridge.
What I am trying to do is mock up a lwcg ghost harness. I have all the components to do so without spending 300.
Do you have a solution where I can use the Ring on my bridge and have a removeable tether? I am asking this Because I agree with your statement but I don't see another solution.

Soft shackle and/or a bridge that isn't fixed on both bridges loops

I’m not familiar with what you’re talking about so I can’t help. I’ll look it up and see if I can get a better grasp

Try an Alpine Buckle, I Think That's Correct. I Have One For a Web Tether. Nutter Had Videos of Using One Some Time Ago. The Buckle Stays on Your Bridge and The Web Tether Feeds Thru It. Actually a Very Compact System and Easy to Use.

Are you using a saddle?

I don't understand why you need the ring.

Yes, I am using an ESS saddle and have been since it came out. The reason for the ring and the questions I have about the tether is I want to be able to lower my tether as much as possible. I am using large platforms (ambush and novix hybrid). The traditional tether I can only go so low. With the ring on the bridge and a webbing tether I will be able to get much lower. Lower tether (for me) is more comfortable and easier to go over the bridge for weak side shots.
