Hi All,

Forgive me if these questions seem obvious, but I'm a total rookie, so Id rather ask the questions here instead of finding out the hard way lol.

I'm changing up my set up to the JX3 hybrid and helium 30 inch climbing sticks, both have yet to arrive so that I can practice with them. I'm hunting with a rifle and it will likely be in cold weather as it is in NY state during November. Does anyone have any suggestions for an easy to carry/hang pack. Also, while eating or drinking coffee up in the saddle, where do you all store a rifle; do you hang it from the tree? if so, what do you use?

Daisy chain or mini versa strap gear hanger around the tree, with s- biners for range finder, call, etc. a small carabiner for my pack, and a hero clip for my bow or rifle. Should be a thread or 2 here somewhere with someone’s pics of that setup.

As far as a pack good luck, I’m on my 3rd, there’s a thread for that also.

I've decided to go with the Tethered HYS strap, S clips and hero clip set up. As far as the pack, I'm thinking about going with a lumbar pack.

For a pack I see you decided on lumbar. There are a couple companies that make those. I use a horn hunter g2 which will tote a bow or rifle and has an integrated hook to hang in a tree. Hangs in a branch or off a strap. For firearm management I use a single point harness which allows me to be hands free. My pack hangs open so I just stick my thermos of tea in the pouch(I don't drink coffee)

How are you planning to run a lumbar pack & the jx3 (that’s almost a climbing treestand)? Not being cute at all, just a lot of bulk including sticks. The Jx3 packs sticks great on its own, I would recommend the smallest pack possible. It doesn’t even have to be a traditional pack just something to stuff in the back w/ the sticks.
