Issue With Harken 150 (300lb MWL) Cam Cleat

Has anyone had any issues with this cleat? Last year was my first year saddle hunting and I wanted to go with extra safety and got the 270 model which is 500lb MWL. Looking at getting the smaller one but I always just have the safer feature in the back of my mind.

I understand the 150 model seems to be the standard. Just curious if anyone has had any issues with this one.

Thanks, Friends.

You know my stance... I tried to sell you this one before.

I'm sure there have been failures, but I havent read of many coming from our community. Which is now flooded with these... though it hasn't been for long.

I still use the micro. However, my goal remains to keep slack in bridge & tether to an absolute minimum, regardless of stick attachment. Better safe then sorry.

From the thread title, I thought you had issues. I use the Schaefer up to 1/4” and either 3/16 or 1/4” amsteel(not full bury). I like the idea of getting the bigger cleat, but mine works flawlessly. I’m sure that harken would do perfectly! I’m not pouncing on my stick either.

Buy what makes you feel safer. I have not seen any complaints of failure in a saddle related climb, & I’m sure ANY failures would’ve been made public .

I have 150 model and use 1/8" amsteel for my large platform. Never have slipped yet. But my life is never dependent on my platform either, so am not worried.

No issues here and I weigh 265 and my pack is 18lbs, saddle with gear on it is another 7lbs

I had the smallest cam cleat similar to a harken break a few years ago. I was testing it at ground level jumping on the stick. I went to medium cam cleats after breaking it

Ronstan Small Cam Cleat (Grey)
Ronstan

Rope Ø - 2 - 8 mm
Height - 20.0 mm
Width - 24.0 mm
Length - 48.0 mm
Fastener Ø - M4 mm
Fastener Hole Centers - 27.0 mm

M.W.L. - 75 kg
B. L. - 150 kg
Weight - 20 g

It was a Rhonstan carbon cleat. Small

In two or three years I have never had an issue with a medium carbon cam cleat.
