Issues I've had with the Predator Platform

I found this strap buckle from nite ize. Called Dual cam jam.

It is basically a trucker's knot for a strap.

This allows you the benefit of 2 to 1.

I climb with ddrt. Which makes it hard to get the strap tight by pushing away from you. This allows me to push with my legs against the tree and pull on the strap. You still have to set it but once it is set it is dug tight into the tree.

I used the terhrd strap. You have to slice the stitching of the end fold to make it flat. I am going to stitch in a loop for easier hand grab.

I found it at HD. Search this it should show up.

Thanks to all for posting your experience. I have learned a lot on this site!

In that video, it looks like the problem he was having was the platform was not level with the strap when he went to tighten the strap. So, when he cam’ed over the platform, everything rode up the tree. Disclaimer: i am new to saddle hunting so maybe someone more experienced could better advise.

I definitely like the looks of that standoff better. Please update after you get some use with it.

Bought DanOs stand off bracket for my Predator before last season started. Much better grip on trees across the board and no slippage from side pressure.

Great upgrade for a small price.

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the Predator biting into the tree and staying solid over the course of a sit. When I setup it seems to cam over and bite well but after a few hours into the sit it definitely loosens up after some side pressure. I've had a few slips where I needed to change my pants afterwards. Now in full disclosure, I'm a bigger guy 260lbs, so I'm sure that doesn't help.

I'm not sure if the strap is stretching, or what. At any rate, I was actually looking at the design of the platform for a solution. What would you guys think about moving the platform up the post about 2", and adding a second versa button on the post below the platform with a second strap?

Would that work?

Thanks in advance
Thankfully I have had no trouble but I use a Daisy chain not that strap buckle contraption it comes with. Must be set very well before unfolding.

Camming platforms for use with a saddle are not ideal for several reasons. The old treesuit design is MUCH sturdier. I've put my 6'8", 350+ pound BIL on a diy aluminum one and after it settled about half an inch, it was like part of the tree.

Might want to look into replicating that
Nutterbuster how anyone hasnt called you out on being 6 foot 8 I do not know
