It's just...a little crush... - Review of the JX3 Hybrid Saddle

Saturday morning I put my over pants and my jacket on after I was at hunting height in the JX3 it can be done. But I am a smaller guy, so I have more room to move around.

I just didn’t know how much space should be between me and the bridge webbing. I’m 5’8” and 180lb…not a big guy and it’s a tight squeeze to access my pants pocket.

I REALLY want to sit in a JX3. Out of everything new this year my biggest desire is to try a JX3.

There is just something about it. I am comfortable in my saddle but these just look glorious.

Not comfortable at all. Your saddle is plenty comfortable. Too heavy!

Also, Sitka is too white! That camo will stick out like a sore thumb!

2 questions for ya:

1) what is the Mini hanging from on the Hybrid? I zoom in on the photo but can't tell what's up.

2) looks like you have the red dot on top of a booster bracket. I see that this comes with the Vortex Crossfire on Anazon. Obviously you have it installed, but you like it elevated vs directly on the rail?

I have the fore grip slid into one of the molle loops on side of the saddle. Don’t do like me. You might accidentally move safety off and discharge. Instead, get a small hook and piece of cord attached to the Butt stock and clip to your bridge carabiner and adjust for length. I just haven’t done it yet, took this picture to get creative juices flowing. I did move the mini from this position to ready to shoot on a big buck this year. Never got the shot but proved to me this is the position I want to be in with the mini. Take it away!

I can’t remember what options came in the box. But the one on there is the one I chose. I love the combination of mini, scope, and hardware, so yes, I like it!

Do the backpack straps flop around on you when you’re hunting/moving with it while in your setup location hunting? I would be slightly concerned about the straps flapping around when moving and tie those down but maybe I’m overly concerned. @Plebe did you just pick one up?

I’ve been using the hybrid for 5 seasons now, almost exclusively the last 2. I have not had a deer run away because my shoulder straps moved or flapped or any other manner of shoulder strap disguise giving away-ness.

It's selling point is comfort. Forget hip pinch and hot spots and back soreness and all that jazz, these are not substantial problems in a good soft saddle imo. (anyone having such issues should change saddles, get a stand with a mesh seat, or, lol, come to the light). Where the JX3 really outclassess other saddles is reducing/eliminating foot and ankle fatigue and knee pressure.

I've kept it for that reason.

So, why haven't I used it?

1. I don't find archery form as repeatable as when shooting from a platform
2. I don't have as much hunting time as I do hunting gear
3. It's not as refined a system as other options I have. (Can it be efficient, sure, Kyle has spent lots of time developing and sharing solutions to that end. There are many ways to accommodate different gear choices and hunting styles. And it does have some built in features too, like the bow holder).
4. It's heavy, lol. It just is. But I have to say it carries really well for what it weighs.
5. It does seem to be a bit more difficult moving around the tree. Is this a major problem, not really. But there is more of a feeling of being pulled back to center, probably having to do with the higher tether and longer line. Maybe a tree strap that allowed some anchor point rotation would help? (idk, that might be noisy). Anyways, for a saddle that relies on movement around the tree, it's something I don't love. The fork helps anchor you so you don't actually swing back though. It's on the edge of the strike zone imo, umpire's call.

What would make me move it into the rotation?

1. Knee or ankle issues
2. Being able to use bolts
3. Taking up crossbow
4. Refining my JX3 system...for gun season

I don't see myself ever bow hunting from the JX3.

You read my mind w these questions… the Mini hanging there looks sketchy without knowing the full situation.

I bought the Mini about a month ago and have hunted once with the newly installed red dot… I think I’m going to drop it to the rail to see how that looks, because it feels high on the booster.

Sunday evening I did a hunt from the ground in the snow… I had a very large bodied shed buck come to 3 yards eye to eye with me… the third buck back in the group still had his horns but after 15 mins of trying to figure me out they left and I couldn’t get the dot on him. I could have shot either of two deer in the group if I wanted, with a compound in that setup I would’ve had 1% chance.
