John Eberhart Scentlok Suit

Whether or not it’s fair chase is really a personal opinion, I don’t care if pope and young approves of it or not. If you considered scentlok not fair chase than ozonics would definitely qualify as well. Plus you have the factor of how silly you’ll look up in a tree with a smoke machine.
I don't use ozonics but ozone is a gas and is invisible.

Just curious if anyone here know the reason. Mr. Eberhart last posted on the forum Sept 2021, and last time he even login was Nov 2022. Why does he no longer visit the forum? I heard he still use Facebook.

I understand majority of the Tethrd staff stay away for business reason. It make me a little sad that they actively try not to even mention this forum anymore. Greg used to tell all his viewer to go to saddlehunter forum in his videos.

Too many know it all’s that berated them about everything. They just got tired of it an moved on. Kinda what you’ve read on this post. A lot of BS with nothing to show for it.

I suppose that is one way to view it. Here is my view, I dont own any of their stuff because too many products have been released that had serious quality issues with the initial offering. As they cleaned stuff up and got it right, a lot of folks that may have raked them over the coals, now give them credit for turning out a good product. The one stick is a prime example. If they got their feelers hurt because they released a product before it was right and consumers voiced their displeasure, maybe they should have stealth stripped their feelers. Best I can tell they have great customer service and they are not afraid to try new stuff. It seems fairly safe to say without their success, we wouldnt have near the commercial options that we do today. They proved a market and should get a lot of credit for it.

You’re right! I have been saying on here for years if you’re going to bash a product or company in their infancy then devote your time, money and effort to create something better. If not then keep your yap shut! I often wonder if any of these guys ever even make it out into the woods or just play with this stuff in their backyards. They post comments all day long but have nothing to show for it. I am fortunate for all the products that came out in the recent years that helped me transition into saddle hunting. This will be my 5th year doing so and I will never look back.

What was it about the final product that John wasn't happy about, or wasn't exactly what he wanted?

Camo option and knee pads
I could see there being camo licensing issues that could have been at play but the knee pads or lack there of was a fail on their part and John had every right to not be happy about that. Would definitely have made for a better product based on my use of the sitka mountain pants with knee pads. They are an awesome feature.

They nixed the kneepads?

It's probably because if you are anyone in the public eye, be it John Eberhart or Dan Infalt, or whoever, you will always get people wanting to engage you to argue just for argument's sake. My thought is that he puts out content and lets that stand as it is. Otherwise, you are just getting into one argument after another with an endless stream of folks on the internet.

I'm sure that has a lot to do with the Tethrd guys staying away. How many times do you have to hear "my platform squeaked and ran off a 300 inch buck and you ruined my life", lol.

I believe so. If I'm no mistaken, in one of John's videos where he went over the suit, he said they nailed most of the features he wanted, especially the pockets on the pants but that he was not happy with the built in knee pads. I feel if he was just hawking a product he would not have mentioned that. He didn't like the way it turned out and he said so.

I occasionally email John about different questions I have about his videos or whatever. He is always responsive and professional. I wish he would return to posting here on SH.com too. He’s a good guy. I’ve never used Scent Loc before but after he helped design the SH Suit with SL I emailed him a couple of questions about it. It was at about this time last year where it hadn’t yet come out or had just been released. I told him I didn’t care for the dark camo of it but all the other features seemed good. I told him my hunting requirements and he recommended the Forefront suit they offer. He also emailed me the discount they were offering when it was first released that he posted in one of his videos. I ended up not buying either but this spring when they had a 60% off sale I did get the B-1 series in the MO Terra Gila pattern and I’m going to give it an honest try this season. I also picked up an early season hoody they offer during the same sale but can’t remember what it is called.

Whether you believe it works or not the jackets are almost useless since they dont have an elastic bottom and a hood.

You are a human scented wind checker that is constantly being squeezed.

I use a base layer with a head cover and gloves. I have been using Scent-lok since it first came out many years ago. I believe it works and that's from my own observation from years of using it. It works for me and I have a very intense scent free system I do. That's my own opinion and you and everyone else are entitled to your opinions also.
