John Eberhart Scentlok Suit

Anyone have the jacket yet? i like the price point and features (quiet, windproof, pocket in right places, knee pads). Don’t love the camo, but i have a mish mosh of handme down stuff, and feel motion is more important. I also assumes scentlok is NOT going to allow me to NOT play the wind. It just seems like good value.…if the pants coming next month were bibs with knee pads, i would have pulled the trigger already on the jacket. Instead, I’ll wait for reviews of both, then decide to trigger this suit, or try a quality set of bibs for rut as my first quality hunting apparel purchase. Right now I’m running a combo of Walmart, cabelas garage sale, and huntworth clearance, all different patterns. The idea of a quality suit of the same camo that keeps me quiet and cozy in the tree and MIGHT help with scent control, designed by Eberhart, and just over 300 for both pieces is intriguing for someone like me starting from scratch.

I have the jacket. Looks like it’s good quality. I read that you do not need to order big to be able to layer underneath. I agree with that, I ordered my regular clothing size and it’s big enough to layer under. It looks and feels warmer than I expected. It should be good as far as silent movement goes. I obviously haven’t hunted in it yet but my first impressions are positive.

For those of you that ordered the jacket and were waiting on the pants they are in stock. I ordered a pair today.

I am new to bow hunting and saddles but I ordered this suit because I have learned so much from listening to Eberhart over the past few months. Because I trust his character and intentions I chose to leverage his experience to make up for my lack of it. A few notes from a newb:

1. It sizes perfectly. I have fairly long legs (34-35” inseam with a 34” waist)and while the large pants fit a little loose around the waist (the adjustable straps make up for that) the length was spot on. I normally wear an XL jacket (6’2”, 230lbs) and the jacket also fits perfectly with just enough room for a puffy if required…

2. This stuff is freaking hot. I means seriously insulated and I can’t imagine a scenario that it were cold enough to require anything more than a base layer but it rarely touches the negative digits where I live.

3. The camo is much lighter in person than it looks in pictures or videos. While it is a lighter shade, it still doesn’t have enough silhouette breaking contrast for my taste.

4. Quality construction. The stitching and overall quality of the garments are on par with most high end performance apparel companies.

I have only given it a cursory examination as the suit is only applicable for late season or during a severe cold snap mid season where I live but I wanted to share my initial thoughts in the hopes it might help someone with their purchase decision.

I too bought the suit and I agree with @ChristopherReed about everything except #1. I’ve worn Scentlok for a long time (10+ years) and their late season suits seem to suffer from the same issue which is sleeve sizing. My wingspan is larger than my height which causes issues buying jackets and coats. My early and mid season jackets have plenty long sleeves however this suit the sleeves barely reach my wrist bone. This causes issues when your arm is fully extended as the sleeve pulls back even further and creeps up your arm. This further compounds the issue by causing bunching around the armpit and vertically beneath the armpit. Due to this I cannot layer it as I had intended. Even with just a vest beneath it it was super uncomfortable. I’m sure this won’t be the issue for everyone going in just making folks aware.

Eberhart was just on a Deer and Deer Hunting podcast the other week talking up Scentlok but also saying how Scentlok has never paid him a dime. ***…

Lol!! You don’t design a suit for a company and not receive any compensation!!! LOL!!! Tired of listening to B.S. like this!

That’s still compensation. But could care less! Just don’t BS everyone and say you don’t receive anything.

I’m not sure it is in the truest sense of the word but I get the issue. He should either not say anything if he is getting some kind of remuneration or fully disclose what he is getting if in fact he even is. I almost think John is the type of guy that just appreciates having input in something or name recognition with a product. In an ancillary way he may “benefit” via the services he provides or in his vocation as a sporting good sales manager. His name and face is associated with a product or products and in truth that benefits his ability to gather more sales accounts for other Hunting industry products. It doesn’t matter to me if he is or isn’t but he must make a point about that for a reason.

But did they pay him a dime?

Lets say he got a free suit. Ok. Is that compensation? Hardly. More like a gift. Did he get more than a suit? Who the heck knows. I suggest asking him to clarify, if it's eating you.

They're piggybacking off him for advertising, seems to me they benefit quite a bit.

Remington sold countless Remington 760/7600s off Larry Benoits fame. I think he said he never made a dime from the company. They even made a special edition to honor him. Did he ever get something from Remington? I don't know, don't care. If he did, it wasn't near "compensation". And if Larry said it, I believe him.

If John's a liar, put up. Lets hear it.

I'm not a JE fanatic. But when you call someone out but have no cards to show, that's weak.

Not saying you're wrong. Just that, as it stands, your point is baseless.

Getting something in return is still compensation. This isn’t worth arguing. Was just input.! Obviously bothers you!

I agree, not worth arguing, because it's pointless unless there is some modicum of actual information to discuss.

Do you know he got anything?
Do you no he didn’t? All hear say! Either way you look at it. Peace out ✌️!
