I drove wreckers for some time in my early 20s. We had a driver that really had heartache about having passengers ride in the truck with him. So, AAA sends him to help out a couple of little old ladies who broke down on the highway. He convinced them that it was too dangerous to get out of a broken-down car on the interstate, and he'd tow them - buckled into their broken-down car - back to the shop. The State Trooper had other ideas - the little old ladies got a ride in his car, my (now former) co-worker got a ride in his partner's car, I drove his truck (with the customer car) to a competitor's shop while my light service Ranger sat on the side of the highway. I later got to tow my own assigned rig back to the shop.

We made zero money on this goat rope of a tow, but at least I got a story out of it.
