I have been intrigued by the battle belt mods some of you guys have posted. I pulled out my old aero evo yesterday to see what I liked and didn’t like. I have a one stick on the way so I figure I will try something a little different. Lemme know what yall think.07D91180-014F-4BC6-B90E-58BCCE32AEB2.png

I like the look of that! It looks like you have some adjustment to thw position of your saddle, my ? Is can you adjust it while you are wearing it?

Yessir, I can adjust it while im sitting in it I think I may incorporate another support strap running from one side to another with an adjustment slide.

So I sat a little in my yard this evening, the battle belt is kinda like a backrest, since the saddle portion does not have leg loops I can fold it under to take pressure off the back of my thighs while leaning.

The Aero Evo has it's own built in battle belt. I have taken off the belt and just climbed with the bottom section. It is just like a Kestrel but with supporting leg loops. I don't know why manufacturers got away from the separate belt. I add one to all my DIY saddles.
Great job on your saddle. Are you a sitter? I am.

I probably sit more than lean, but I have an evo and I dont like the way the leg supports dig into the back of my thighs. I have frog legs, i might put another adjustable support strap across the lower portion to be able to change the pressure points during all day sits. I will see how I like it after sitting in the woods for a couple hours

Can't you loosen the extra long straps on the leg loops to reduce the pressure? They provide about 3 feet of extra strap. Maybe they want to make sure we use them. I did a video on me climbing SRT with my Aero Evo.

I will probably switch back to the evo one day..... I like hunting out of my own diy saddles though. I have an evo, original trophyline, mantis & recon, but I think feels cooler to flog one out of something I created. I have made quite a few saddles now, but not near as many as @always89y, he must be running a Phillipino sweat shop in his basement!!

Do you find the aluminum climb paws on the corners of the Evo dig into your ribs? I have to lean back more than I want, so they are tolerable. I think @Redbeard experimented with removing them. Maybe that's why.

I killed a few big bucks from the evo, then I got into the small, compact craze, now I am building bulkier saddles. I never really had problems with the paws, I just found That the evo had way too many gadgets. I like the battle belt because I can add foldable molle dump pouches wherever.

I see you used that super wide strap for your saddle, I have been thinking about making a saddle with some myself, how does that wide strap work out while sitting?

It is great. Super comfortable. It pretty much matches my wildest expectations. I have a few videos where I am climbing with it and I say several times I could just sit all day with no other support. Here is my channel if you want to see all my mistakes. :D

I went with a BB set up from @DanO for this year. I got real tired of my saddle sliding down on the walk in/out. Moved everything to the BB and now I can stow that in my bag. I'm just going to throw it on at the base of the tree. I might wear it on the walks in and out for shorter duration hunts.

I just got finished adding an adjustable strap to my battle belt saddle to reduce strap pressure on the back of my thighs while sitting. It is adjustable so I can adjust it to eliminate pressure points during long huntsA555B8D6-2D62-4B7D-AEBE-0EEE1611D336.png
