Just getting ready...

As you have already gathered, ROS or platform is a personal preference. I’m a dedicated ROS user. Tried a platform and sold it. You’ll have to figure out for yourself what you prefer, I’m afraid! Hopefully you can find someone near you who will let you try stuff out. Best of luck.

I found the SH user map and there is one member from Slippery Rock.
Thats my hometown, about 25 minutes away from where I live now.
Also found out that a good friend of mine, his Dad has a kid that films him once in a while that saddle hunts...

I've pretty much always taught myself everything I get myself into. All I need is 'the idea' and ill figure it out my way.
The internet sure does help now-a-days though...

I tried to convince myself that a platform was better than a ROS for two seasons but, ended up coming back to a ROS. IMO they are more comfortable than having your feet and knees stuck together the entire hunt. I wouldn't be so quick to write them off, lots of guys prefer them.

I have quite a ways till bow season, so if we ever get any decent weather I'll be digging through all the hunting stuff I've got sitting around.
I have two Lone Wolf climbers that I can start out with. (Using the hand climber/seat as a platform)
I have a bunch of lock-ons That i can pick through and maybe chop one apart for a DIY platform.
I'll definitely be lookin' out for a ROS too. Thats sumthin' ill probably have to buy? Well, I haven't found anything about DIY ROS yet but I bet there is some info here?
