So is this where we should start posting KK mods, or is there already another thread? I got some strap/mods I'd be happy to share.

(there were a few suggestions in the KK group but thread, but that got closed)

Either way. Feel free to share it here or start a new thread. Would definitely like to see your mods.

Are the Kiwis better than Geckos?

Good to know. I was looking into geckos. I will hone in on kiwis. Thanks

Also it’s looking like a group buy of probably the lightest spurs (factory modified for SH use) may be a possibility

If so, the previous talk from over a yr ago indicated significant discounts

Waiting for more updated info

Not for the impatient or complainers tho since we are at probably near 1.5 yrs of waiting for the opportunity

Ugh...I couldn’t wait...I should of waited. My Climbrites were fine...once I saw them, late night with a couple drinks in me...impulse took over. I need to suspend paypal and my cards for purchases on a weekend after 9pm....lol

Ya if I want to pull the trigger on spurs I will just do it. I cant wait for something that may or may not happen. Would be awesome if it did though.

I’ve only waited cuz I don’t really need them immediately & have been getting deer without them

I’m sure climb rites would be perfectly fine and if we never knew carbon fiber kiwis or geckos we would have no complaints & $ left over for other cool stuff

Got my spurs put together with the camo decals/stickers. I'll eventually be stealth-stripping them (is that a new verb?) soon. And I'm still waiting for my bottom/lower straps and buckles to come in. I'll be using the gatekeeper buckles and straps.

Lastly, and most importantly, Dale sent me a matte black gaff and a woodland brown gaff (see pic below). He said he will likely only carry one of the two but was wanting to know what we thought would be more popular.

I'm (currently) partial to the matte black. However, once I stealth-strip the stirrup, I might lean more towards the brown since it will blend better with a camo pattern. I know it won't matter from a hunting perspective. I'm just thinking about what will be more aesthetically pleasing to the human eye.

What are your thoughts/preference?

Great, great job.
I would pick brown if I had a choice, but they will get covered anyway.
I am stealth stripping mine as soon as it comes in.
Please post a link for those gatekeepers I only found them in a qty of 12?
I am going to try and utilize that large webbing slot, I will post pic if I figure out something that works.

Using the strapworks ordered specified by @Pj0230 I made a few modifications

1) foot straps- instead of using the rings, I just ran the straps through

2) for the calf strap, used a dowel to run through the existing slit so not hole/screw needed (to answer your question @sdonx )

Stealthstrips from Stealthoutdoors.com will cover shin pads and the gaffs. They are sending me 2x 10"x9" strips, and 2x 3.?"x 24" for the gaffs (I'll post the finished product this weekend.

A little quieter and Little cleaner

Using the existing loops with the straps - Less things to rattle.

Using the dowel to "trap" the calf strap and use the existing slit as designed by KK so you can get the "bend" on the front shin

Insert dowel and then simply pull it through to lock in the strap. I have the buckle right at the end of the shin cup (photos to follow)

Dale sent me one of his upper straps for the hunter model (which will utilize the slot). Here's a pic. I'll see if I can get a second one at some point when they are available and add these as my uppers.

For the gatekeepers, this is what I ordered (link below). I planned on using the gatekeeper buckles and straps for my lowers, but I just got them in and their backpack straps are thinner/flimsier than my Heavyweight Polypropylene (upper) strap. I thought it was going to be similarly rigid like my backpack straps on my personal backpack. So, I'll play around with them but not sure if I'm going to use them or not.

All look great. I like the proto-type straps. As for the gaff color, not really important to me. Here are mine with straps and stealth strips. Still need to cut off bolt for top strap. I used cobra buckles.
