Kiwi Klimbers Hunter model available

Dale sent me one of his upper straps for the hunter model (which will utilize the slot). Here's a pic. I'll see if I can get a second one at some point when they are available and add these as my uppers.

Do you know why he opted for double clasps instead of one? Is it safer/work better and a larger single 3"

Would the collective group recommend cobra buckles over the plastic ones?

Using the strapworks ordered specified by @Pj0230 I made a few modifications

1) foot straps- instead of using the rings, I just ran the straps through

2) for the calf strap, used a dowel to run through the existing slit so not hole/screw needed (to answer your question @sdonx )

Stealthstrips from Stealthoutdoors.com will cover shin pads and the gaffs. They are sending me 2x 10"x9" strips, and 2x 3.?"x 24" for the gaffs (I'll post the finished product this weekend.

A little quieter and Little cleaner

Using the existing loops with the straps - Less things to rattle.

Using the dowel to "trap" the calf strap and use the existing slit as designed by KK so you can get the "bend" on the front shin

Insert dowel and then simply pull it through to lock in the strap. I have the buckle right at the end of the shin cup (photos to follow)

Nice job. I like this, interested to see how it works for you,
Pat.

Not sure this application requires rated buckles. There is no direct force on them say like an aider. Kinda just holds them still against your leg and bottom of foot.

Thanks Pat - I Climbed about 10 trees over at my neighbor's property this weekend (with his permission (I also get to hunt those 70 acres solo during bow season)), varying diameters, varying species. Worked really well. LOVE, LOVE the spikes as a climbing method, so stealth! mentioned this in another post, but climbed down from 30ft with a doe wandering 10yards away keeping the tree behind us, and she didn't even know I was there till I snapped a twig on the ground.

I might add slides to secure the straps after the large buckles, I was getting small slippage after tightening.

They were still non-stealth-stripped version.

Not sure. Sometimes the smaller buckles are a bit more rigid/stiff. But again, not sure why he opted for it.

Ugh...I couldn’t wait...I should of waited. My Climbrites were fine...once I saw them, late night with a couple drinks in me...impulse took over. I need to suspend paypal and my cards for purchases on a weekend after 9pm....lol

PayPal made me change my password recently for “recent suspicious purchases”......
No, that’s just the saddlehunter effect.

All look great. I like the proto-type straps. As for the gaff color, not really important to me. Here are mine with straps and stealth strips. Still need to cut off bolt for top strap. I used cobra buckles.

My cobra buckle came undone last weekend at 20 feet. Freaked me out. I switched back to the traditional to the leather belt style.

Finished up and ready...

The look awesome! Can you cinch the top strap and tighten it easily? Do your bottom buckles loosen up on you? I found that my bottom buckles which were similar to yours would always loosen which freaks me out and messes up my climb. I really want to find a way to have a similar set up to you but my cobra buckle for my shin strap has popped open and it’s also a PITA to tighten, and then my bottom plastic buckles always get loose.

Shins straps are good, can tighten no problem, I just played around with the location/position of the buckle till it sat flat and didn't loosen.

As for the foot straps- it got loose(r) once, but not un-usable/catastrophic.

However, I might suggest for add a simple slide that will stop slippage.

I'm trying really hard to talk myself out of these. I'm going to wait until the reviews start coming in. With my Buckinghams, I have significantly greater control by using 1 inch webbing for the bottom strap and wrapping it once around the spur before clipping in. With this seemingly 2 inch bottom strap, will I still be able to do the wrap? Or maybe it won't be necessary. Once you guys who bought these start getting them in, please do a review.

Awesome

Looks good

I have $ sitting in PayPal just waiting for hopefully a group buy announcement at some point

Gotta keep the dream alive

I’ve had mine now since early in the year and love them, don’t wait or they will be gone.

Any idea on delivery time for these? Are they finished waiting to ship? I can't find anything on their website but I may have missed it.

I'm loving mine... Still a novice in them and still figuring out which trees are good vs bad, and still exerting a little too much effort.. a little to hot/warm by the time I'm settling.

Any hints on:

1) staying cooler (besides slowing down)

2) best/worst tree selection
