Knot advice for rappel/tether

Just the Bull Hitch with a nice sized tag end.
I have junked that C-IV rope in a month and a half already. I've rappelled over a hundred times with that sucker and the Bull Hitch has never moved!

I use baby zip ties on a lot of my knots and tag-ends and hitches to keep them dressed or from flapping around...
Zoom in on this next picture and check out all of the zip ties.

Why did you junk the c-iv?

What I meant was, I pretty much ruined it.
I bet that a lot of guys wouldn't even think of hanging from that rope if they looked at it first.
It's trashed.

*edit* I still use it...

Ahhh gotcha lol!! Just wore it out practicing sounds like. Have you replaced it yet with something else or more of the same?

I use the bull to make the quick link fixed in a loop created by a double overhand...I can verify that once it's been loaded a couple times it's "locked" and takes a minute to work it free. Personally and IMO, with as hard as I've had to pull on my pull down rope, I would be worried the ziptie could possibly fail....i broke small carabineers on the pulldown so I don't think it's too far fetched to think a ziptie may break also

I've broken some too.
Like I said, they're for tydiness. A hundred pack is about 3 bucks,. I go through a bunch of them...

So....if it breaks, now what do u do? Climb back up, attach another ziptie, go down and hope it doesn't happen again? Not trying to be a jerk...I am just trying to figure out the logic. Or is there a way to somehow retrieve that I'm not thinking of?

I’m pretty sure he said that he made sure to clip it to the main line. If the zip tie breaks he will still be clipped to the rope and should still be able to pull it down.

Again...I must be missing something.....if the loop is gone what's keeping the pull down rope/biner from dropping? Unless the pulldown is fixed to the rope but in the pics it isnt

It’s around the main rope and not the tag end of the knot. Look at the picture. If the zip tie breaks the carabiner is still around the main line and cannot come off.

The biner is clipped onto the quick-link side, not the tag end side. Even if the biner ended up on the body of the rope, all of the line would need to feed through the quick-link prior to dropping, effectively removing your girth-hitched anchor. At that point your line is retrieved!
