Knot advice for rappel/tether

I have Rescue-Tech, Camo Elite, Ultra-Tech and C-IV for rappel ropes

I've put a pretty serious beating on the C-IV i have. It's in rough shape so I figure I'll keep hammering on it this summer and keep my Rescue-Tech for hunting season.
As a rope I love the Canyon Elite but it's kinda bulky. The Ultra-Tech is AWESOME but I only have a 30 footer and that ain't long enough for me.

I really like the Duck for easy adjustment, but I ditched it on my one-sticking tether. It kept clanging off of my top step or platform so I switched most of my tethers to a carabiner wrapped up with hockey tape and a Swabisch...

The Ropeman on a LB is pretty tough to beat.
Ok thanks ... that last part is really what I was wondering. I'm 1-sticking and using my Madrock on my repel line as a tether. As soon as I go to my LB and step up after a move, the slack in the tether is a mess and the Madrock just wants to clang on everything. I'm thinking I should switch it up to an 8-foot tether and use knots (hitches) and keep the Madrock stashed until the ride back down. . Are you using tenders with the schwabiches so you can take up slack with one hand?

Yep.
I'll get you some pictures. I might have some in this tablet? ( I'm in the back seat of our work truck)

Another thing I might not have mentioned in this thread is that I climb with a separate tether. I don't hook up to my rappel rope 'till I'm ready to come back down to Earth...

This is great, thanks for the pics! I was going to ask you what that tender was ... it looks perfect. This is exactly what I'm thinking of switching to. I'm going to rig up some hitches on biners and possibly try it out this afternoon if I can find time.
Are those the standard 20" eye-to-eye's from Cruzr?
Do you use a quick link (or similar) on your tether, or just run it through each time?

Check out these:

88 posted the links to what and where I get the tenders and hitches.

Girth hitch on tethers and quick link or delta link on my rappel ropes.

Thanks for the help ... I just rigged this up on an 8' tether and I'm gonna go try it out. I went with a distel, because that's what worked best for me on my bridge. I tried them all. Figured I'd start here. I might end up doing this same thing on my LB because I just don't trust my Kong. I had a scary experience once with a Ropeman, which is basically the same thing. It was user-error, but still makes me nervous. Plus, it's metal (on metal) that can go clank. I ordered a 21" eye-to-eye from Cruzr. I'm also having them make me a 32" one for another purpose. He (Chad) made it up and got it in the mail within a couple hours! If anyone needs custom length eye-to-eyes, look no further! Tether Distel.jpeg

Somewhat related but how are you fusing the ends of non-nylon core ropes like Oplux or BeeLine? I can't find a clear answer online and am willing to buy a heated rope cutter if it would actually work. In the meantime, I've been using 3:1 heatshrink with some superglue on the ends.

Looks pretty good.
Keep working on it and practicing with your stuff at low heights and you'll keep learning what you like and don't really like...

You will want to get better and better.. (well, atleast i do)

Thanks ... that's what I've been doing. I hung on that knot down low. It was slipping a bit, so I added one more twist and it was good. 1-sticked with it up to 20 feet and hung from it for a while. So far, so good. Everything's a work in progress for me and I keep making tweaks and changes and it gets a little easier every time. I'm about ready to start doing some mock hunts, hauling up gear and hanging it and shooting some arrows from up there.

I just got a bunch of these ... I haven't tried them yet. Probably the same as your doing now though???

I was gonna get a couple of the 20"ers from Cruzr but I didn't wanna pay the shipping price when I could buy them from EWO and get all kinds of other goodies too...
Seems like every time I place an order with EWO I'm like "damn it, I needed one of those too!" I have a couple of those brass mini Kongs in my cart now, lol. Just gotta wait till I can justify the $11 shipping charge. I made my own 1-stick and they had everything I needed. Chad at Cruzr did me right too though. He made me a custom 32" and I bought a standard 21" and he had it all in the mail this afternoon and only charged me $5 for shipping. That's unheard of. All of the companies and individuals I've bought from over the few months have been outstanding. It's really nice. I get tons of help on sites like this one too. It's a great community. So many helpful YouTube vids, etc.

EWO, my wife hates seeing them in the mail. And in a month or 2 when I start getting the fever again she will be mad once more.
