I am not writing this to trash Kodabow. But I feel it is important to point out issues with products since it may help others. If you own any crossbow, compound bow or stick bow, keep an eye on your limbs and everything else.
After communicating with Chuck Matasic the previous owner of Koda Bow and looking at this further I have come to the following.
There are two cracks in the limbs. When I got back from hunting, I had some mud on my bow (and everything else) so I took a wet rag and wiped down the bow. I am 99.9% sure there was not a crack in the limbs. Then I shot the bow and noticed these cracks. Since the cracks are on the inside of the limb, between the string and limb, it would be almost impossible to scrape the limbs in this location.
There are sharp fibers protruding from the limbs that you can feel, and I would have noticed this when I wiped down the bow.
Chuck said "There is an element going on there where the coating is involved in pulling up the fibers. Just epoxy, putting the fibers and coating back into place, clamp ...but don't epoxy your clamps to the limb....and it should be fine.
I am not happy with that resolution, it's the should be part that worries me and what is an element?
This is a 200 LB. crossbow and I do not feel comfortable putting epoxy on a cracked limb and hope it holds. Every time I cocked or shot the bow, I would be concerned about the limbs. If the epoxy did not hold would the limbs break, and could this hurt the shooter (ME)?
What if I go on a two-week hunt, can I rely on this bow?
Now since Kotabow is out of business I do not have a lifetime warranty???
The web site says some parts are available, but I am not sure about limbs and Chuck did not offer to send me new limbs. I have only shot this bow about 100 times, and this does not give me a warm feeling.
So, I have decided to junk this bow and I ordered a Hickory Creek.
