Kuhnerts Ambush

That's interesting. Never heard of anyone doing that. What are you attaching your strap to? Going all the way around or just around the lagged log?
I can't get a strap around the tree. Depending on the size if the Cottonwood, I drive in RR spikes 12-18" away from the versa button on both sides. I face the lip on the spike away from stand. Then I hook the loops over the end. When I cam it ove, it's tight. There's no way it can come off especially under tension. Plus they serve as a ring of steps. I can walk right the tree if I have to but still stand on the platform to shoot the weak side shot easily.

Don't judge a platform by its welds
I tried tig first but that stupid coating they use couldn't get it clean enough. So got the spool gun out. I started cleaning them all up. But I broke my carbide burr. Said screw it didn't feel like going and buying another one right then. If I was making it for sale or someone else I would of spent alittle more time making everything perfect for the critics. But guess what the deer don't give a crap.

Ok that makes sense. Hopefully nobody ever finds them with a chainsaw. Still makes me cringe talking about bolts and stuff in the tree. Cut a fair amount of firewood and find some old crap in trees everyonce in a while. Hard on stuff.

Good idea looks great but man welds are in certain spots for reasons of strength and not to give way. Support welds are super important for weight bearing.
Im sure or really hope you considered the build and the setup before cutting away pieces of the platform.
These things are designed a certain way by to work a certain way.
I just hope fir safety sake you considered this.

No worries about hitting them w/ a chainsaw. I have total permission to spike the trees. Hopefully soon I will own the property as well.

Thanks, it is actually more solid now then when I started. Has very little flex. At least I don't have to worry about the post snapping. If it does give any it should bend instead of breaking. Since I never heat treated it after welding. Thanks for the concern but probably the weakest link in all these systems is a Chinese made strap and buckle made by the cheapest bidder. I am tethered 100% of the time on the platform, I will be fine.

Hopefully this is close enough to give you what you need.

I think I’m going to order a new Ambush this weekend, does yours has the new angled teeth, is it quiet now? I have pretty much made up my mind I want one, I love my .5 stand and have tried a ton of platforms so the Ambush is going to be my next, I’m just really concerned about noise and really hoping the new angled teeth solved that, thanks!

The newest version with the angled teeth yes it has been great for me. I sold my original version with the revised post. I was in on the first batch and along for the whole ride. I have two left over posts, that personally I don't have a lot of concerns with using as long as I'm tethered in when climbing on it.
It's quiet for me and tight to the tree like I like my platforms.

Thanks, that’s all I had to hear, I’m ordering one, I appreciate it!

I'm going to try the ambush at the roadshow next month. If I like them, I'm going to get one. I've been on the fence about ordering one of these.

I just got one this week and it was delivered to my door on the second day. The only fault I can find is the sharp edges. I will definitely be doing a lot of wrapping so shouldn't be a problem.

All the new ones come with the angled teeth, backpack straps, and 2 cam straps, correct?

Why does the Ambush come with 2 straps and the treestands only come with 1? Seems opposite… there is only 1 versa button on an Ambush.

I hear ya, my .5 came with 2 straps, by accident, and one versa button, I called them and they sent me the second versa button, apparently the 2 tabs near the back of the platform are where the second strap can go to prevent the kick out these are known for when standing behind the pivot point, time will tell I’m gonna try one, I know you have owned a few of these, I like my .5 a lot.

I recently purchased the ambush a short time ago. I held off because of price and all the things being said about issues with them. So after trying several other platforms i found this one on ebay brand new for 200 so i bought it. It doesn't have the angled teeth but i have tried it in all kinds of trees and have had no noise issues, no kickout issues, and no cam issues. Its by far the best platform ive tried so far. As far as the price, ya its pricey but after buying ,selling and shipping several platforms i tried......you get the point i own the .5 and the 1.0 and both are excellent. I shouldn't have let opinions of others influence my decision and formed an opinion on my own experience saving myself money in the end . I feel like sometimes people for whatever reason just dont like a certain company and form an instant negative opinion then spread that opinion

The angled teeth are a major improvement. Lessons the flex, it cams over and bites in a lot better. I would almost even recommend breaking out the angle grinder…lol

With that said…. The first couple of batches were absolute crap. The holes were drilled up to 1/4” off and on an angle. They didn’t even fold properly. They were pretty bad. The newest version is the bomb.
