Does anyone have experience with this rain jacket? I just bought a black Diamond Storm Shell and love it. I put it through 10 days of rain and didn’t get wet at all. The only exception was for the chest pocket isn’t taped on the bottom and therefore leaks a little after hours of rain. I’m considering returning it and trying this one out since I could use it for hunting as well as back packing. I want to know for sure it’s water proof before purchasing. How well does it pack down?

I would strongly suggest going with the Yukon over the kutana. The Yukon is 4 way stretch. The kutana is only 2 way. With makes a massive difference in comfort, ease of walking, and most importantly stretching your legs when you climb you sticks.

Do you have experience with the Yukon series? Thanks!

Can't speak to the Yukon, but I have the kuiu dcs guide jacket and attack pants, which are only water resistant via their DWR treatment. I hunted all day in light rain this past sunday and stayed completely dry underneath. Never encountered a downpour or I may have been tempted to bust out the poncho from my pack, but the light rain was literally all day, non stop, plus the canopy drip, etc. For not being touted as rain-gear, I was impressed. So I would expect their actual rain-gear to perform very well.

Yes both the top and bottom. Imo the best rain gear money can buy. The design, pocket layout, and fit is unclassed
Awesome! That’s how I feel about this black Diamond jacket but it’s not camo and the front pocket isn’t taped. A day you’re not hunting could check and see if the inside of the chest pockets are taped? Thanks again

Oh also, how big is the hood? The nice thing about my black Diamond jacket is that it fits a helmet as well but cinches down without so I’m tripling this jacket for hunting, skiing, and back packing. If I’m paying $300-400 it’s going to put in work.B9FC66B6-4D45-4A67-8285-0AE8792D926C.jpeg6FC63EC7-7EF5-4848-A4D9-643467D70930.jpeg

Used the Yukon set on a Newfoundland moose hunt a few years ago. Kept me dry and did not get destroyed even with all of the brush busting we did. Cannot recommend it enough. Pricey, but worth it in my opinion

I got the Yukon rain jacket while it was on sale. It is definitely a tough rain jacket made for heavy rain and brush busting. It’s has great features too, pit zips, tons of pockets. Great hood, etc. As awesome as it is I don’t know if I see it getting much use as a whitetail jacket. It’s seems loud and bulky, but it’s brand new and it might break in some. My black Diamond jacket is more packable and actually pretty quiet. I’m debating on sending the Yukon back. I was hoping the Yukon would double as my skiing shell too, which I think it would with as thick and durable as it appears to be. It’s a very sporty fit with next to no room for layers but with the stretching fabric it really feels fine, not too tight on the movement. I was able to get a base layer and a puffer under it fine but more than that might be pushing is. Is anyone using this rain jacket as a do it all?

I have both top and bottom, very durable and tough, very breathable, and have kept me dry every time. Doesn't pack down very well.
