Hello everyone!

I need to replace my Canyon C-IV rappel rope this year. I use it to one stick and rappel with a madrock. Really my only complaint with it has been that the madrock seems to get kinda jumpy when the rope gets wet.
Any recommendations on other ropes to consider? I was thinking of Canyon elite just to try something different.
 
I've been using ape canyon 9mm Rubicon. Can't say it's better or not, but something else to consider.
 
I have narrowed my 2 favorites down to the 8mm predator and the 9mm canyon elite. I will be comparing them side by side this year but I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I also run the madrock no issues so far with either rope.
 
The canyon elite will bite a bit better as it’s larger in diameter but be advised it has the same technora sheath so if you’re looking for cordage that’s not as smooth or slippery look at something else, maybe sterling htp.

I bought a length of 9mm Sterling HTP this spring and have been testing it on yard trees. So far, it is working well for my needs...but I use friction hitches instead of devices for ascending and descending.

Who’s putting your eye in for you?
I’m currently running some 9mm HTP but I want to get smaller or more compact rope.
 
All rope is going to slip through the madrock when wet.

CIV was the smoothest rope to rappel on through the madrock. I was not a huge fan of the canyon elite. It was okay but I wouldn’t rank it above the CIV.

Agreed. My first mainline/rappel rope was 9mm Canyon CIV that came as a kit with quick link and Madrock Safeguard. I tested the Madrock and it worked fine, but never when the rope was wet. Then I tested a few friction hitches on the CIV and resold the Madrock to recoup most of my investment.
