Latitude Method waist ring

I have the original method with the belt ring on the waist belt of the method. I am thinking of using the figure 8 to rappel this year. I would put a swabish hitch on my bridge and hang from that then hook the figure 8 up to my waist belt. Anyone see an issue with that? Hope it would be simpler.

I experimented with attaching a backup tether to that ring year one, it's rather uncomfortable hanging from it in my opinion. Much more comfortable in the tree now so I don't do that stuff any more. What is your reason for not just using the bridge?just hook it up beside the other, take some slack out, introduce slack into the tether and you're swapped.

Edit: still have the soft shackle I made as a quick attachment method attached sorry about the crotch shot, I'm in the tree, lol. Screenshot_20230107-134846.png

I was just going to use a swabish on my bridge to hold me in place then that be a quick attachment place for the figure eight

Just clip your figure 8 carabiner next to your swabish carabiner on the bridge. Or try the belt, but like I said... Not comfortable. Pulls from the top and makes the saddle slide up/pinch.

Screenshots wouldnt load. Link below instead.

See post #4 and #9. Easiest way I've found so far. But it does make it a longer attachment between the rope and carabiner.

The loop/legs coming out of your Schwabish will have to be long enough to put the 8 below it or short enough to put the 8 well above it if using your standard bridge.
Options:
1) use lineman’s to detach and move Schwabish to a lower clip in point for your third hand and put 8 on your bridge.
2) incorporate 8 into your Schwabish/bridge connection
3) connect 8 to secondary bridge with Schwabish on normal bridge above it.
4) look up @phatkaw soft lock on a figure 8 thread.
5) the drum that @Weldabeast and JRB got me beating….don’t use 8, use munter/super munter below your tether hitch

I wouldn’t recommend clipping into belt or lineman’s loop for the 8 or third hand as it pulls and twists uncomfortably

Not sure I'm understanding your question... but if you want to put both your friction hitch and your Figure-8 on the same bridge, you could shorten up your bridge as far as you can, and put your figure-8 on a tether instead of directly on your bridge. Kinda like this:

I hunt out of a Drey+RCH combo and use my belay loop exactly like this. Figure 8 goes above the friction hitch on my rappel line, on a tether.

The original method had a loop built into the buckle. I was curious on hooking the 8 into my bridge and the autoblock into this loop

It's ok either way I'm leaning towards staying with the madrock.
