Latitude Outdoors Method Saddle

Ive had people messaging me about my thoughts on the method because I’ve already gotten rid of it. I figured I’d finally post here. Initially I thought materials didn’t seem as nice as my kestrel. Things felt thinner and eh...... I was curious how it would hold up over time. I felt like there was too much fiddle factor for my liking as well.... one way was some what comfy for sitting (still some thigh pinch for me) and a completely different way was better for standing.... I don’t want to be moving around anymore than needed in the tree. I felt the most comfortable keeping the panels together and sitting in it like I do my kestrel. Which then made it worthless to me haha. I guess I like to keep things simple and less is more for me. I do need to pick up a back band for long sits though. I felt that would beat two panels.... and seems like it would be easier to get out of the way when it’s go time! I’ve never sat in the tee hopper recon, but by looks and for the money, I would go that route..... I might even get one to test this theory.

I wrote that pretty quickly, so forgive me if it’s a hot mess to read through haha. I’m off to work!!

I got my method yesterday. My initial thoughts

Well, It is the same comfort as the recon which I like. Not as comfortable as the TX5 or Cruzr XC. Comfort means more bulk and more weight. The trade off.
Pretty good for comfort
Nicer setup than the recon, but more expensive.
Light light light

I really like the rope belt. Easy to adjust.
I really like how the bottom panel moves up and there is no flop when walking around.
I really like the bridge
The leg straps , well they can be fixed, they are hard to remove. Maybe there is an easy way to remove them

In the end comfort while sitting is king for me. If you want a real light quiet saddle that you can walk in and has decent comfort for a sitter and excellent comfort for a leaner this may be for you.
I think that is what they were aiming for and that is what we have.

I really like the oplux belt. I wish I could put it on the Cruzr.

I have not sat in it for hours but I tried the Cruzr XC and then the method. For a sitter I know what is bulkier and more comfortable. The CruzrXC feels like a hammock. The method feels like it is not there when you are walking around.
The mesh in the Cruzr XC has more stretch to it.
The method seems to be well made IMO.

A good saddle for a lot of guys. I just like my JX3 and Cruzr XC and TX5. I guess I am too comfort oriented. But this saddle is good and likely perfect for a minimalist leaner.

I have sat in the method a bit longer. I think the comfort may be better than my original impression. By adjusting the two panels closer together directly under my butt the sitting position is better. I would still want a back band. For leaning it is very good.
If I play with this it might just get close to Cruzr comfort

Oh and this saddle is nice to walk in
It is so light with the rope belt
The nicest saddle to walk in but I have not loaded it down to see if it goes to the knees

So someone told me John Eberhardt overlaps his panels on his Anderson sling . I will try that tomorrow.

After playing with it some more I believe this saddle favors a pretty low tether attachment (head level) and then the design really comes into it's own. I tried staying on my srt device that I use to ascend but the cinched anchor was considerably higher and the geometry didn't work so well. No biggie just another 7' of Oplux with a CT Rollnlock- leave multicender ready to go .

A low tether and the panels with a slight overlap make sitting very good.

I'm interested in this saddle, but the pics I've seen of it seem indicate an issue I'd have. If I am wrong, then please someone correct me.

It seems that the belt is durably sewn to the top, mesh panel and the webbing making part of the bridge/linemans loops is also well sewn to that top, mesh panel. However, the belt webbing is not sewn very well (or maybe at all) to the webbing that becomes the bridge/etc. They are connected by both being sewn to the same mesh (which isn't nearly as strong as the webbing).

I'd like to see it so that the design allows a point where the belt and the other webbing overlaps and for a nice box stitch/bar tacks/etc to be there. What is the point of a rated buckle and belt when its main connection to the rest of the saddle is mesh that is the weakest link of the saddle?

The bottom is like a seatbelt webbing frame with 2 vertical webbing section giving it its structure. The mesh is not main structural component.

Thanks for the reply. I think my post was unclear.

Is the belt sewed to the panel webbing securely or just to the panel mesh?

The belt isn't sewn in. It free floats behind a durable 2" webbing strap that is sewn in. Trust me it's not going anywhere.

Thanks. I didn't know about the separate 2" webbing strap. I thought the belt just widened. Then I would be concerned if the 2" webbing strap was attached to more than just the mesh.

In my mind, either the belt or the 2" webbing it rides in should be securely sewn to what gives the saddle its strength (webbing that makes up the panels). This reminds me of painting all of your wood pieces before gluing, so that your glue is stuck to paint and not wood.

I'll probably just replicate a 2 panel saddle using a rock climbing harness, sit drag, and back band.

Any feed back from bigger guys with this? I haven’t purchased it yet bc it only comes in the one size. And all I have seen vids of are guys they are like a buck fifty to a buck seventy five in it. Anyone 6 foot 240ish using one yet?

I’m A Leaner With bridge at 90% adjusted open and tether is eye height
6’ 230 XL clothing
Metal less version .
leg straps are left Off.
The Walk in ,
All you’ll feel is the dump pouch on your side and that not a bad thing.
As it’s ultra light.
The kydex clips are an amazing design ,just practice a few times for muscle memory on Deploy/stow.
Theres No hip pinch.
Adjustability is awesome with 2 panel design .
I’ve owned AH all versions,Both CruzR models,Mantis,Old Trophylines,JX3 and Guidos.

How's this for 1 sticking? Am I going to feel like I about to fall out of it?
