So I got a Method and was wondering if you method, ess users or and 2 panel saddle guys are using the leg straps? Are they really there for safety? They don’t look like they could take even a short static fall. Just curious

I don't use mine I have both the method and ess thinking of cutting them off but haven't done it

I have metal free method, I removed the leg straps and have no problems at all.

I took them off immediately. Since they attach at the bottom panel, as soon as you deploy it they go slack so I don’t see the point

I have the metal free method and two Recons. I don’t use leg straps on any of them.

I think most of these leg straps just started out as a method to help keep the saddle from falling off your butt when walking then evolved into someone's thinking that these could be used as extra safety support measures. I know in the YouTube Eberhart saddle video he stated that these straps are not load bearing and should be worn loose when in the tree. I am just getting into the saddle game and made my own saddle, "Eberhart" style, and did not add leg straps because I don't see any reason for them. I have not been in a tree yet though, just hanging off a pole in the basement.

i never put them on because most said they never use them. Works well without them.

I stand corrected my method has detachable leg straps and I never felt the need to install them I was out practiceing SRT today and noticed there not on there

Started in a sit drag and often tempted to go back! But settled on a kestrel. Love it. Cut the leg straps off day one and never looked back, till I started one platform/aider climbing and repelling. Still works great but occasionally wish I had the straps on there. Looking to buy another kestrel with straps still on. I can always loosen or remove while in tree.

Just picked up a Method and was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the feedback, guys!

Used mine at first, but took them off.
