Tuskegee experiment, MK Ultra, Trail of Tears, WW2 internmemt camps, the Reconstruction, and the Nevada nuke tests are my go-to examples of why I answer "HECK NO" to, "Mother, should I trust the government?"

At my work the fiberglass department is made up of 3 guys from cambodia. They tell me the stories of growing up under communism. Pol Pot eventually killed over 2 million people. 2 of the 3 guys have never found their parents....they are in mass graves somewhere. They are always eating everything... water moccasin in the ditch..they killed and eat, sticker vine bulbs and air potato..they eat those and boil for tea....(this makes me kinda mad) no regard for size and bag limit on fish.....I asked them why they do that and the response was....we grew up on food rations and once our ratios were gone we got our sustenance from the forest. I think it's ingrained in them. Side note...the cambos own more guns and go shooting more than anybody I know. They ready to fight that cancer

I would LOVE to hear more details about that. That was a massive story in the early 00’s in Michigan. So many conspiracy theories about shooting captive deer or steroid bucks that he shot. So funny to think about now.

This was only a couple years after I saw a buck that ended up being a state record, so I had an idea of the size of his deer.

Years later I was relocated to MI and lived in the county where Rompola allegedly took this buck. There was still talk and behind the scenes work going on to validate / invalidate the buck supposedly.

There was some wicked wilderness here and there that folks weren't really penetrating, so I always hoped it was all true and I'd stumble into something massive. But I never saw a big buck there and the biggest buck I ever saw hunting in MI was in a different county altogether, and probably 140s tops.

The Rompola story still fascinates me. The buck, how he hunted, the whole deal.

Also the fact that Mitch fell off the face of the planet. Who knows if he even hunts anymore.
 
There is a Youtube channel called "Fall of Civilizations" that is pretty interesting. They deal with ancient history.

I agree, one I cannot forget, it deserves it’s own thread, in a couple days when I’m not so busy if somebody doesn’t start one sooner I will, a lot of hunters on this forum from MI I would love to see what they think or if they know anything.

That would be great, I found there are people who doubt his deer, but there just doesn't seem to be enough to cast a credible doubt on his buck.

To someone who is just hearing about this deer, it just kinda seems like haters from the videos and stuff I've read

there was alot of ethnic clensing the killing feilds where their way of cleaning out the last of the dark skinned chinees in south asia ..sad

the more i studie moddern war fair .it seem to me like the war of 1812 didnt end .just exploded and simmered down in different regions.for 200 years.probably farther back.but harder to link together the farther back.every nation had sivil wars not just some.i miss my grandma the thing that where common knawlege when she was a child are just mysteries now.awsom conversations
 
The pronghorn antelope is the last remaining member of the antilocapridae family. There were at least 17 other antilocaprids at some point or another. Some had long spiraling horns, some extremely palmated moose-like horns, and some even had as many as 6 horn cores.

I had a conversation with a gentleman once who is fairly well known in the whitetail world. I won't put his name out there because it's not my story. But he has met Mitch on several occasions and I believe still talks to him about whitetails. He told me the buck is 100% real. Rompolas tactics are next level and if he's still in decent health I am sure he's still slamming tanks.

I'm in a psych rotation currently. It's interesting to be "old" in college. My classmates seemed off-put when I mentioned that maybe the folks saying stuff about the CIA etc weren't really crazy... I mean forced sterilizations, Charlie Manson, Ted Kazinsky, the feds would totally never do anything wild to folks....
