Operation Paperclip

Colosus: the computer that helped win the war. Its beginnings come from the fact that the Poles were first in cracking Enigma until additional cogs were implemented. When they shared with the Brits they summarily took over and all the credit as well.
It was a great part of the victory and the Polish people need to be properly recognized.

There were only 2 atomic tests East of the Mississippi. I lived here most of my life and did not know about this until about 15 years ago. I was telling guy I know about this, and he said he knew about it and that the shock had knocked his parents' house off its foundation at the time.

Is this the hitler one or the video game guide? I’m confused lol

My middle school was named after him.
Ka-she-us- ko

Nope....that is not how you pronounce it. The ś is a soft sh sound. The ci is a chi sound, the sz a harder sh sound. Polish is phonetic....if you it's written out, you can figure out how to pronounce it, and vise versa, with very few exceptions, unlike English. :)

Closer to Kosh-chi-ushko

We have a town here in MS named after him. Here it is pronounced Koz-E-es-Ko.

i guess im not getting it from what im reading, why is there controversy over his buck and do people doubt it? seems that the guy is a credible enough hunter with other huge whitetails on record

edit: one of the guys who even handled the deer in question was a conservation officer too

Check out the deer Hunter podcast series on it….very interesting listen

No mentions of William Walker.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Walker_(filibuster)

A proto-Confederate raised a mercenary army to conquer Central America to create slave-hold colonial empire. Bonkers.

The latest Hardcore History series about the War in the Pacific (Supernova In The East) had an interesting tidbit buried it the middle: In addition to the parts of the war we were involved in, Japan was fighting a brutal war of occupation in China. China, meanwhile, was split between the Nationalists under Chaing Kai-Shek, and Mao Tse-Tung. Japan was vehemently anti-Communist, and part of their justification for occupying China was to keep it from going Communist. Late in the war, on the ropes after losses to the US and UK, the IJA went all-in on a major offensive, which would consume a massive quantity of irreplaceable resources. They didn't launch this counter offensive against the US, or the UK in India, or even the Communists - they attacked the Nationalists. Had the IJA attacked the Communists instead, maybe the Nationalists could have kept control of China. What would the would look like with a free China today?

I just watched this. The story/ fate of mankind.

One is audio only. Get the one with the video.
I loved it!

Being from Alaska I’ll throw in some Alaskan history. Japan actually invaded the Aleutian Islands during WW2.
Roadkill is considered state property. You cannot use a tag on it. State troopers maintain a volunteer database of needy families who they will call to scoop it up. I’m not sure how long it’s been in effect but my family benefited from it in the 70s so at least that long.
