I’ll cast another vote for the mini grip. I think that’s the perfect all around knife. Quick, easy opening without the “conspicuousness” of an assisted opener or auto. Can flick it or simply open it with your thumb as you wish. Super easy closing.
When I went down the nice knife rabbit hole, my wife bought me a Sebenza, which I carry most days because I can’t stand the idea of something like that just sitting around in the safe. But it’s nice enough that I’m always worried about losing it or chipping it or something, and that can kind of a burden. (#FirstWorldProblems)
If I’m going to be outside or doing something where I know I’ll need my knife, I always take my Leatherman Wave or Mini Grip. And if I were going to buy just one pocket knife, I’d make it a Mini Grip or Bugout or a similar Axis lock of that general size and shape.
