Lighted Nocks...

I have nocturnals and some knock offs. The nocturnals are definitely brighter and battery lasts longer, but not enough to justify the cost.
 
I have used lumenocks and glory nocks. I'm not using them this year, but will probably get back to them next season or two. Lumenocks have replaceable batteries, Glory nocks do not. Glory nocks are a little wider and need a little looser D loop. Glory nocks are easier to turn off, and weigh a touch less. I would not hesitate to use either of them again. Some of my fovorite memories are of a lighted nock passing right through the top of the heart. The extra weight will bring your FOC down a tad.

I've done the same thing and yes they've operated fine but for me it's a head game I don't want to play.

What I mean by that is that when I'm at full draw going through my pre-shot checklist in my mind (solid anchor, proper bow grip...etc) in those few seconds before squeezing my release, the last thought I want popping up to distract me is "hmmm, I wonder if the nock will work...". Whether it works or not doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things but what that thought will do is cause me to hesitate and go over my checklist again. Can you hear the door of self doubt opening and a touch of confidence escaping...? I know, I have issues...HAHA!

So I prefer to eliminate that distraction altogether by always using a "never through game" lighted nock when making a shot on an animal. If I need to make a follow up shot I'll use one of the blood stained nocks.
 
I use Nocturnal with a high degree of success. I have tried many brands, and the Nocturnal to me is the best product I have used. The switch is a little tricky to turn off, but my number one criteria is it lights up when shot. And they do. To me they are brighter and last a very long time. I have some that are a few years old that still work. I try to use fresh ones at the beginning of each season. For sure in my primary arrow.
 
Nocturnals. Red. I broke the one I was using to paper tune arrows with. It took a lot of shots 20' to the target.
I used lumenocs before. I don't like how they operate. Not crazy about the switch style in the Nocturnals. But they seem to be working so far. So can't really complain if they are operating correctly.
But I like the safety pin idea. Will add one to my pack some where. I will keep using them until I feel the need to do something different.

The best that I have found are from a guy on Facebook. His page is Woody's Archery Supply. Not really sure where he sources them but they have a switch on the side that makes them easy to turn off. They also fit the arrow shaft well and have a good string fit IMO. I had issues with other brands being loose in the arrows shaft, poor string fit, hard to turn off, or they turned on when I nocked them. They are new to me this season so hopefully I can do a field test with a deer or two.

Woody makes them himself. No mass production imperfection - every single one gets hand assembled and tested. They do still have the occasional problem, but he fixes those within warranty period.

I completely understand. I haven’t used any of my already shot ones on a deer yet, maybe I will if I run out of new ones. But then again they make great Christmas gifts for people to buy for me
 
I’ve been using victory lighted knocks for the last two seasons. Same four I started with. I like them much better than the firenocks.
 
I don't know if it's been mentioned but have you looked at Glory nocks? They are by far the easiest nock to turn off. They aren't as bright as Lumenok and the string fit seems a little tight.
 
I've been using nocturnals since pope and young allowed entries using them (because if I ever shoot a P&Y I darn sure want to be able to enter it!), so I've probably shot between 30 and 40 deer with them. I have had 1 nock that didn't go off on a deer. I prefer green. I use a brand new nock for every arrow that gets launched at a deer. I will shoot that nock a few times on a practice arrow to make sure its functional before hunting with it. If I recover the arrow the nock gets washed off and goes into my practice nock pile. I do try to stock up on them when I see them go on sale.
 
nockturnals are iffy...half the time the stupid things were broke right out of the package and theyre bulky. Lumenoks in the orange work good and are lightweight and low profile, and replaceable batteries. Glory nocks are easy on and off and work pretty good but they are kinda bulky too i think. Firenocks are good but expensive. My buddy uses the launchpad nocks from carbonexpress and likes them they are light and compact.

i use plain nocks now and havent had trouble finding them since i switched to heavy arrows. they always go right through into the ground. the 4.5gn nock makes a difference in FOC vs 20gn. Dr. Ashby has a good video explaining how much more important it is getting the caboose end light as possible.

The only issue i've really had was one that was on an arrow that I flung into the yard and I wasn't home a couple of days to look for it and it got rained on. It still turns on but you can tell water got in the switch and corroded the battery. It was still lit up even after being rained on. Looking forward to the website.
