I been sitting on this idea for sometime and finally pulled the trigger to see it through.

Parts:
Aluminum Double steps from DanO
Lone wolf tree brackets
Versa button (counter sunk the bolt)
1/4” Amsteel rope
1”x1”Carbon Fiber stick
1/4”-20 1.75”L stainless cap bolts

Specs:
21.5” from step to step
4.8lbs for 4 sticks (1.2lbs/stick average)
Quieter than aluminum
1” of post above top step to allow for a movable aider
Durability is still to be determined.

I’m not sure how I can get much lighter other than a shorter stick, but at this weight I’m right there with a jim stepp.

Wow dude, that is super light! Cool!

Where did you find the carbon fiber stick?

Very cool man! Let us know how it works out. Where did you source the carbon fibre sticks?

Finally someone did it.
That extra on top will help offset the stacking...they look awesome.

Are the step grooves narrower than the tube

Only way to get lighter is replacing the aluminum steps with carbon rod. You’d shave about 2-3 ounces and it would be considerably less user friendly.

I would imagine the above setup is where the train stops forsticks.

Looks good. Material costs???

Off the top my head..
$93 for the 24”x1”x1” carbon fiber(includes the shipping from China)
$90 for the aluminum steps with shipping
$28 for versa buttons
$87 for tree brackets
~$8 for the bolts
Not sure on the Amsteel, I’ve bought so much over the past three years that I have random lengths of it laying around.

$306 total without the Amsteel accounted for. Pretty steep for some sticks but if they last a lifetime they’ll be worth it. Time will tell....

Awesome!
Have you climbed on them yet?
How much flex?

I had flip flops on so I didn’t climb beyond the top of the first stick. But there was very little flex in the single stick I got on. Didn’t get to bounce on it though.

Awesome work! I think I would be using grade 8 bolts instead of the stainless just for safety.

Ya, I’m following this one.....

Let us know how they hold up. I have concerns with the slot on the step damaging the carbon fiber when you stand on the step and weakening it. I don't know if it's a valid concern or not so I'm interested to see how it works.
