Arrow did pass though. Blood on full arrow. Tracked very little blood about 50 yards. There I found a sliver of blood, skin and hair. I believe that it simply grazed him. I hate to injure a deer however I think this deer will be alright.
I think I’d run that out a bit more...... I’ve never had that big of a chunk missing & not more blood. May take a it to bleed more.
Gotcha I thought that was at the point of impact. Are you not still getting blood where you found the chunk.......
I had a small blood trail for the first 50 yards that went to droplets then down to nothing. There was a little blood near where the skin was. It is strange that the skin fell off so far away instead of on impact though.
Wonder if it wasn’t a pass through but deflected along the ribs & blew that pc of hide off ?? But that doesn’t jive w/the blood on the arrow
I’m thinking deflection too. I heard a loud noise as the arrow hit. At the same time the deer turned away from me. Would make a little more sense.
1st weekend of good bucks moving. Rut should be getting good any day now. cashing in on 2nd best spot this morning next to a cypress swamp. Lots of rain last night / this morning, supposed to get cold, hoping to make it happen today. Dropped a buddy off at a new spot on my way in. He texted before I got to my tree, said he already had deer blowing at him before daylight.
