Live from the saddle 2020

Thanks everyone!! Just finally got him home quartered and on ice. Got tore up by thorns, sprained an ankle, bout ready to keil over from exhaustion... and can't wipe the grin off my face. Sitting here looking at him and I just realized I might have a set of his sheds from 2018. I'll dig through them tommorow after work to confirm. Man I'm beat.

I live in Monroe. Middle of the way between Athens and Atlanta. I’m on a public piece just south of I20 right now

I’m very familiar with Monroe. I grew up in Grayson, Loganville area. Good luck

1.) Tree size, the one im in now is about 25-30in in diameter. only gives me about 270 deg of rotation. It also makes the spacing on a ROS awkward. Its hard to push off from the tree to release the whale tale.

2.) Securing the ROS. I used a common strap with push release and i cant get it tight enough to hold the steps where i want them. They shifted down about 6in the minute I put weight into them. Thinking maybe a ratchet strap?

3.) Moving around the tree quietly. I had practiced this a couple of times, but definetly need some more. I think part of it is just being a rookie and not being used to to mobility of the whole thing.

Other than that. I love how comfortable the JX3 is. Definetly better than the old hang on im used to.

I like the one with the hook b/c sometimes I’m at a loss at the top of my stick trying to remember the voodoo required to correctly thread an Ocb in the dark...........

I've had a couple brain farts up there to

Just remember to capture the post with a loop that goes away from the tree. I use my right hand to operate the buckle so I put the buckle in the closed position and look at the handle dimpled area to verify its oriented to the tree correct, then hand the buckle around the tree to my left hand consent rating on keeping the strap flat against the back of the tree with no twist. . almost like hooking up ur linesman belt...then capture that post and pull the slack out with my right hand and if I have enough tail I'll reach and grab the tail work my left hand so I can work the buckle to find the sweet spot....bear hugging the tree kinda
